Welcome to this training series on Fusion 360 CAM my name is Mike Mattera

00:00:13,100
I will be taking you through this series of lessons

00:00:15,633
we are going to be covering an introduction to 2D manufacturing specifically milling

00:00:22,666
we are going to be working on this part which is a typical job shop type part we'll be machining it complete, meaning the top and bottom in two

00:00:30,566
different setups. these lessons will give you a good overview on the capabilities of Fusion 360 CAM

00:00:38,500
as a process, showing you all the individual steps that it takes to complete a part from beginning to end. please keep in mind that you

00:00:46,000
can stop the videos at any time and we encourage you to work through the steps as you're watching the videos

00:00:53,500
now let's begin

00:00:55,200
the first thing we need to do in our project is load in our sample file and to do that, we're going to come over

00:01:01,100
here to the data panel. click on the icon that says show data panel

00:01:07,000
Fusion and has a number of project folders already here and at the bottom you'll find one

00:01:12,133
that says CAM samples. give that a double click to open that folder

00:01:17,266
and here we have another folder called tutorials.

00:01:20,666
click to enter that. here we can find our sample file called intro to 2d machining.

00:01:27,000
give that a double click to open it.

00:01:30,200
with our file open, if you look upon top here it says "read only". samples cannot be edited so we

00:01:36,233
need to save this under our own project, so that we can make changes to this file.

00:01:42,300
to do that when we are going to click on the arrow next two cam samples.

00:01:47,566
Fusion does create a first project folder for you, but we want to store this in a new project folder. so we'll

00:01:53,033
come up here and select new project. this creates a new folder.

00:01:58,500
we can give it any name we like. I'm going to call mine introduction.

00:02:06,400
once the folders created, double click to enter that folder. you'll notice it empty.

00:02:12,466
now we can come over here to the file pull down

00:02:16,166
and select save as.

00:02:19,466
now we keep the name the same as it is, or you can add some other designation to the end.

00:02:25,433
and add my initials to the end of this file

00:02:28,766
and we'll hit save.

00:02:33,366
so we've opened the data panel we found the sample file,

00:02:37,866
opened the sample file, created a new project folder and saved that part to the new project folder.

00:02:45,600
at this point we no longer need the data panel opened, so we can click on the icon to hide the data panel
