Transport Layer Security (TLS): Updates Required to 2014 Products to Maintain Software Access

To align with industry best practices for security and data integrity, Autodesk Identity Services will move to Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 and stop supporting TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 on August 3, 2019. Action may be required to update your Autodesk Licensing software to maintain access to certain product functionality or features.

To maintain connectivity, follow the instructions below. If your software is affected and is not updated, connectivity issues may occur as of August 3, 2019.

Note - This is a client-side update and does not apply for Network License Manager. No update required for the server side.

Installation Instructions

  1. Read the Autodesk Licensing Security Fix README before installing the update.
  2. Before installing the update, make sure:
    • All Autodesk products are closed.
    • The LMU process is not running in the process manager.
    • Ensure that GPO policies that restrict log files from being written to “C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local\Temp” folder are removed before installing the update.
  3. Download the security fix installerR7.exe to your computer.
  4. Run the installerR7.exe as Administrator.
  5. After installing the update, please check the status in log file created under “C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local\Temp\ tls_patch_FY14_log” folder.
    • Check the log file with name “log_date_time.txt” for the success/failure message as mentioned below in point 5.3 or 5.4.
    • Every time you run installer exe, a new log file will be generated, check the update status in the latest log file.
    • If the update is successful, below message is printed in the last line of the log file
    • In case of failure, the last few lines of the log file will be printed with the below message for user action.
  6. After applying the update, if you install any applicable 2014 Autodesk product(s) again, you need to re-install the update.
