This class will discuss the lessons URS Corporation learned when dealing with a large project area covering over 37,500 square miles of the Navaho Nation. URS developed a workflow to apply the client's imagery and topographical data, which utilized over 3225 digital elevation models (DEMs) and 37 enhanced compression wavelet (ECW) files. Navaho Nation asked URS to develop several 3D fly-through educational videos displaying identified flood hazards over this model to show impacts on housing projects. Multiple teams developed data using geographic information system (GIS) applications. They then transferred the data to InfraWorks software to develop the product. The Project Team had originally intended to use 3ds Max software but transitioned to InfraWorks software due to its ability to auto project and symbolize the GIS data in 3D. This project was a huge success because of the ability of InfraWorks software to work with native GIS data.

Connecting Esri’s GIS solutions with civil and building BIM improves coordination and efficiency. Enabling data to flow between these GIS and BIM solutions enables a more sustainable and resilient world. This session will discuss and demonstrate how location intelligence helps built and natural environments to thrive. Customer examples will be presented with an emphasis on sustainability topics highlighting Civil 3D software, InfraWorks software, and Revit software combined with Esri ArcGIS. The moderator of this session will facilitate a series of five-minute presentations by multiple customers using Autodesk and Esri software to produce work that addresses these topics. What are the benefits of the integration between BIM (Building Information Modeling) and geographic information system (GIS) in infrastructure facility management? This class will demonstrate how combined usage of Esri GIS data and tools and the as-built intelligent models enables your organization to do the following: monitor the entire railway or road integrating the intelligent model into the environment. The use of GIS data like geological surveys, interferometric data, and historical data regarding hydrogeological risks can let us prevent infrastructure damages; plan preventive and corrective maintenance merging data from intelligent models and GIS information, for example, choosing the optimal route to reach the point of interest; choose optimal solutions that respect the environment by exploiting the functionality of specific tools (for example, solar exposure and irradiation); and communicate effectively with the team distributed throughout the territory.

How to integrate Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information System (GIS) with Autodesk solutions and ESRI solutions for asset management. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have long been used to model the environment and perform 2D spatial analyzes of large areas. However, with the increasing availability of computing power, data acquisition methods, and automated workflows that generate detailed 3D data, GIS models became more and more detailed and began to contain 3D models. . Through the bridge and tunnel project, we modeled the project in 3D using Revit. Templates were stored in ACC. We used Esri mobility tools (offline and online) to collect site data and populate a GIS database. After that we linked the Revit models to ArcGIS, then we could see the 3D models in the environment. We also added maintenance attributes and we were able to communicate.
