In this class, we will cover how to accelerate the transition to connected BIM (Building Information Modeling) for infrastructure with improved efficiency and project approvals through an end-to end design approach using InfraWorks software as the aggregator and design data visualizer. We will walk through one of our road projects and demonstrate the data collection solution we’re using in our data flow solution. Our techniques and workflow include high-end existing modeling conditions, road design representations in InfraWorks combined with built-in road and bridge design tools, ArcGIS Data collection and presentation in InfraWorks, Ramboll Risk Management data representation in InfraWorks, BIM 360 as collaboration tool for InfraWorks, InfraWorks data flow for 3ds Max software or Forge in the future, advanced visualization—virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR)—and more. This session will feature InfraWorks object data that can be linked to any external open-sourced shared location.

At the heart of every utility is a great source of data, but it can be overwhelming to visualize this data, especially when managing several types of utilities and varied types of data. Additionally, it can be valuable to have a solution for conflict resolution to plan projects appropriately and prevent additional construction delays. In this course we will consider InfraWorks for utilities as an in-house Solution that we can use to visualize the current state of the assets' locations and view potential conflicts and model-design possibilities in a 1-stop shop. We will demonstrate how to import various types of data into InfraWorks software, how to utilize the model for the utilities' assets (overhead and underground), and how a utility can work with other stakeholders to prevent conflicts and to preplan complex projects. We will present short case studies from 2 different organizations—the City of Alexandria and Okaloosa Gas District—and we'll show how these organizations are using InfraWorks software to create models for major projects.

This class is all about combining the traditional software tools like AutoCAD Map 3D software, AutoCAD Civil 3D software, Revit software, Vehicle Tracking software, and Navisworks software with more recent technology like InfraWorks 360 software and ReCap 360 software in order to support the infrastructure construction process. The focus will be mainly on preliminary construction planning and visualization. We will also look at the capabilities of communicating information to the different stakeholders in the project. This class will guide you through the new, exciting, cloud-based API for InfraWorks 360 software. We will cover how to get started and extract data from the model, how to generate report from the extracted information, and how to integrate with other providers—all by reading InfraWorks 360 software models using the REST API. Previous programming knowledge is required (Microsoft C# and Microsoft .NET), and knowledge of REST and the JavaScript API is recommended.

InfraWorks software ships with a basic selection of 3D assets for populating your models. In this class we will learn effective ways of preparing your own 3D models using applications such as 3ds Max software and Trimble’s SketchUp modeling program. From here we will dive into InfraWorks software and learn how to import your custom assets, arrange them into libraries, and export them for use by other user. We will also demonstrate some effective techniques for using roadways and 3D models to create custom road and rail corridors in InfraWorks software.

This class will explore a large-scale port/transportation project utilizing features in InfraWorks software along with AutoCAD Civil 3D software, AutoCAD software, and AutoCAD Map 3D software. Discover some key techniques to help guide you in transitioning from 2D conceptual planning to 3D and even 4D sequences. This course will cover a wide range of InfraWorks functions, such as creating custom "city furniture" from various sources; creating bridges, roads, and rail; randomizing data objects; running scripts; and, finally, creating project fly-throughs and renderings.
