3Dプリントは広く一般にまで普及するようになり、だれもが汎用コンピュータでCAD/CGソフトを利用し、3Dデータを作成し3Dプリントを実施することができるようになった。特に近年、最終製品、部品製造分野で3Dプリントの活用が進んでいるが、3Dプリントでモノづくりを実施するには、製品設計者（以下設計者）に3Dプリントに対する十分な理解と専門知識が足りていない。設計者が希望する3Dプリンティング製品の品質を得る為にはその3Dデータを3Dプリントの特性に合わせこむことが必要であり3Dプリントを実施する段取りとして3プリント技術者（以下技術者）は3Dプリントでの形状再現性を評価してから造形を行っている。この作業においては主に2つの課題を有する。1つ目は、技術者による作業品質のばらつきが発生し且つ、確認に非常に多くの工数がかかるという課題。2つ目に、デジタルトランスフォーメーションの推進から今後3Dプリンティング製品の生産量が増える将来が見込まれ、技術者の能力による品質のバラつきや工数不足が発生する可能性がある、といった課題である。この課題に対し、3Dプリントでの形状再現性確認を、技術者の人工によらずコンピュータシステムが自動で実施することで、設計者は3Dデータに対する評価結果を安易かつ短時間に得ることができるワークフローを構築した。またワークフローを通じ得られる情報を蓄積し、3Dプリントによるモノづくりにおいてデジタルトランスフォーメーションを推進する仕組みを構築した。
