Description
Arkio is a new collaborative design tool that enables designers to work together on buildings, interiors and urban plans using VR, AR, PCs, tablets and phones. In this session we will demonstrate Arkio live and show how it can be used to quickly sketch various design options on top of Revit and BIM 360 models and how the resulting designs can be exported back as native Revit geometry and families. During these live demos we will show examples of how Arkio is being used by architects, urban planners and educators. We will talk about how features like designing with parametric shapes, real-time program calculations, sun studies, sections and shared views are helping our users streamline their design process.
Key Learnings
- Discover how VR/AR can be used for real-time collaborative design together with desktops, tablets and phones
- Learn how designs made in Arkio can be loaded back to Revit and BIM 360
- Learn how other users have been using Arkio successfully on design projects
- Find out how to customize Arkio to your needs
Speakers
- Johan HanegraafWith over ten years experience in the architecture field, implementing, teaching and developing digital tools for Mecanoo’s prestigious projects, Johan established himself as true design technology leader. His early exploration of using VR/AR in the design process recently led him to join Arkio, a startup creating a unique collaborative VR/AR design tool for architects. As both architect and engineer by education he strongly believes that digital tools should enhance creativity to lead to a better built environment. Johan has been a speaker at several industry events including 5 BILT/RTC events on topics like Revit for designers, Dynamo, Unity and C# development.
- HGHilmar GunnarssonHilmar is passionate about creating innovative user experiences and enabling people to be more creative through the use of technology. He is the founder and CEO of Arkio, a collaborative design tool for the AEC industry that enables people to easily design together using any device - in virtual reality, augmented reality, on desktops and mobile devices. Arkio integrates seamlessly with Autodesk Revit as well as BIM 360 through Forge, enabling a unique bi-directional design workflow. XR technologies, immersion, presence and collaboration will change how design gets done. Arkio features a unique modeling kernel and user experience designed from the ground-up for real-time collaborative modeling in VR and AR, giving users the ability to create entire urban plans, buildings and interiors with their hands, as if having design superpowers. Prior to Arkio Hilmar founded Modio, a startup that developed an innovative 3D printing design tool that was acquired by Autodesk in 2014. Hilmar worked at Autodesk for two years as a Senior Product Manager before founding Arkio. Before Modio Hilmar worked at OZ, an early leader in mobile messaging, where he led the company’s sales and marketing, and ultimately managed the sales process when OZ was acquired by Nokia in 2008.
