Description

As steel fabricators continue to use dispersed, global steel detailing teams to deliver 3D models that drive production, the industry is evolving in how these teams coordinate and build relationships to better collaborate on their projects. This presentation will be a panel discussion between a steel detailing company, steel fabricator and structural engineer who discuss the benefits, challenges and future trends in how steel detailing is provided on US projects.  (Structural Business)

    David is currently Vice President of Project Management for Mold-Tek Technologies which is a 300+ steel detailing firm. He also has 12 years experience working for a steel fabricator including working on some of the geometrically complex projects in the Rocky Mountain area.
  • Joel Hicks
    Joel Hicks currently the President of the National Institute of Steel Detailing. He is Senior Executive Vice President of Techflow, Inc. Techflow, Inc. is one of the foremost and largest detailing firms in the world. We have over 350 detailers with 6 offices in India and our headquarters office in Trussville, Alabama. We have 14o Tekla licenses, along with SDS/2 and BoCad. Joel attended the UAB School of Engineering and has over 39 years of experience in the steel industry in steel detailing and engineering. He was a founding member of the AISC Technology Integration Committee and is currently serves on the AISC Code of Standard Practice Committee and the NASCC Committee. Joel is married to Kristie Hicks and has 5 great children and one grandchild. He is very active in his church, Argo Christian Fellowship and Birmingham Tres Dias.
