Description

Applications built on Forge software can allow for greater levels of visibility and transparency around sustainability measures by integrating sustainability parameters—such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency, and so on—into the design-and-make process through a common data environment with 3D models. This class will introduce Forge application developers and customers to the opportunity of developing Forge applications that capitalize on the data of BIM (Building Information Modeling) or engineering models to improve outcomes along these sustainability parameters, or to make sophisticated design choices for better buildings or products with less negative environmental impact. This class will include examples of Forge for sustainability applications, case studies, industry insights, innovative ideas, and experiences from the AEC and D&M industries.

Key Learnings

  • Discover best practices for using the Forge cloud development platform for applications that help with sustainability challenges
  • Understand the opportunities of connecting 3D data models with sustainability parameters
  • Understand the concept of using viewers and dashboards to provide insight into sustainability parameters
  • Understand the importance of using Forge application

I am Director, Sustainability Market Development at Autodesk, working with partners and customers in the manufacturing and architecture & construction industries in their efforts to integrate sustainability into innovation processes; I currently lead an initiative to leverage Autodesk’s cloud development platform (Autodesk Forge) for the development of sustainability applications. I have broad international experiences ranging from product development, innovation and design, to marketing, business development, and sustainability. One specific point in my work life linking me to supporting those that develop environmental or social impact was the Autodesk Cleantech Partner Program, a software granting program, that I evolved into the Autodesk’s Entrepreneur Impact Program that helps early-stage and entrepreneurs worldwide in the social, climate, and environmental sectors to get to market faster. I’m a Germany by nationality and so far have lived in eight countries; I have been in Asia since 1997, having lived & worked in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore where I’m currently based. I am also a frequent keynote speaker at a wide range of prominent design, innovation and sustainability conferences, e.g UNEP’s Sustainable Innovation Forum during the COP23 and COP21 climate conferences, and the World Climate Summit 2017.
