Learn how we took a concept idea from inception to construction using virtual reality (VR) tools. We'll begin by stepping through design meetings, reviews, and daily design working sessions. The course will highlight how VR can be an effective, efficient design tool—not just a cool idea. We'll demonstrate how to make design team members comfortable in headsets in order to engage project teams to provide valuable feedback about design, possible construction issues, and operational hurdles. You'll learn ways to integrate VR into design and project visualization. In addition, we'll touch on overcoming obstacles and challenges that can arise when implementing VR into your normal workflow.

We made a digital twin (DT) of the tunnels that we manage on behalf of the province of North Holland. We're responsible for operating, controlling, and monitoring those tunnels. The data of the tunnels in the DT make the management and maintenance process much easier. Through its application, the DT is a central database in which we as tunnel administrator—along with the subcontractors and our client—can work directly. Accordingly, we all have up-to-date information about the status of the asset. As an administrator, we know the status of reliability, availability, and safety at all times. The contractor can immediately assess the severity and nature of defects and immediately has insight into the required material for carrying out the maintenance. Based on current information, the owner can make strategic decisions. An extensive effort was necessary regarding the original working method. With the DT, the process steps were reduced by almost 50%.

In this session, you'll learn about quality management and how to maximize the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform, other Autodesk products, and custom solutions developed using available APIs to validate data, ensure compliance with standards, and mitigate risks.

This session will address the challenge of developing a vision and a strategy for lifecycle carbon credits to achieve net-zero carbon across any company's project, and on smart buildings globally. We'll cover the implementation of carbon-neutral standards and workflows to create a performance-based center of excellence that strives to build a better world. Revit software's MEP Analysis has seen significant advancements in recent releases. However, given the multitude of options available for model generation, it remains a challenge to ensure consistency and efficiency when producing a model that can be used for analysis. This presentation will present a data-driven workflow to efficiently generate a building while providing sufficient detail for room-by-room load calculations and accommodating the ever-present possibility of changes during the design phase of a project. By using powerful Revit tools like schedules, views, and families, the likelihood of generating a clean model is greatly improved. Potential workflows include starting from a 3D model or a 2D plotted or scanned PDF.

Brazil has undergone significant legislative changes in recent years and has the bold, yet necessary, goal to universalize water and sewage services by 2033. That challenge has driven building information modeling (BIM) implementation in sanitation companies, which encouraged the Brazilian company SANEAGO to use and customize Autodesk Docs and the Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection tools for its context. Similar to other sanitation concessionaires, SANEAGO currently deals with large project volume, developed by several different design companies, for the 226 municipalities it operates. This makes document management, standardization, collaboration, project analysis, and project design quite challenging. In this talk, we'll discuss the CAD-BIM transition, covering not only software usage, but also company diagnosis, policies, and project standards establishment, which involves changes in the design processes and in the organizational culture as a whole, in order to raise BIM maturity within the company and its entire ecosystem.

When describing a concrete structural model in Revit, the model contains elements used in constructional projects and exported to Graitec Advance Design solution to apply loads and perform structural finite element analysis. The export process will take care of the required properties of elements such as material, sections, and geometry. Using the powerful mesh engine and finite element solver of Graitec Advance Design, the internal forces will be calculated based on the applied loads. Then the required area of reinforcement in elements will be calculated, considering the concrete design code and localization. Next, the model will be exported back to Revit. Graitec GTCX format can also transfer internal forces and rebar areas to Revit using the Powerpack tool. Based on the calculated forces and steel area, we will present how to perform 3D rebar placement in Revit for several structural elements. The process of model synchronization between Revit and Advance Design will also be covered.

As a manufacturer and installer of structural glazing products, custom designed and assembled in an automated factory, Starline Windows is uniquely positioned to work with developers and architects directly within the Revit environment. This creates many advantages and challenges in working across organizations and various internal departments. I have worked extensively with Autodesk and their Partners to implement a design process at Starline Windows that represents our product to the highest level of excellence within our shop drawings, while simultaneously creating machine data files and material managment information. I will share my experience in identifying oportunities for digital transformation and process improvement, and I will speak to implementing change across organizational boundaries. I will discuss how to bridge from a modeling environment to a data centric solution while still maintaining a "data entry once" approach for efficient, agile project delivery.

The pandemic has accelerated the use of technology in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. As we all settle into the "new normal,” there has been significant technological change. This session will present a workflow between Inventor and Revit software using Dynamo as an automation tool for production. Our firm has an extensive history of using Inventor for bridge infrastructure modeling and using programming to automate production. Structural concrete or steel, reinforcement, bolted connections, and construction details are represented in our parametric models. Our firm chose Inventor as a primary 3D production tool due to its short learning curve with new 3D modelers, approachability, and native parametric functionalities. However, to be within a building information modeling (BIM) environment for collaboration with partnering firms and clients, we pushed these Inventor models into Revit using a combination of location data from our analysis models and Dynamo inside Revit. With this workflow, we can automate the assembly of our Revit intelligent model, establish Inventor as a BIM support tool for modeling within the production team, and retain our firm's Inventor assets for future BIM projects.
