With growing pressure from consumers and governments, sustainability is no longer a nice to have. As the design phase locks in 80% of environmental impacts, it is crucial to integrate sustainability into the product development process. This session will highlight the importance of eco-design in reducing the overall environmental impact of products and services, and how to apply these principles in Autodesk Fusion 360 software. Premier Tech performed a lifecycle analysis to compare the ecological footprint of the Ecoflo system, an on-site wastewater treatment system, and began applying eco-design principles in a holistic approach to its redesign. The new Ecoflo design is modular, made with recycled content, and supports the circular economy. This session will present how eco-design was integrated into the development of the new Ecoflo product, and how Autodesk tools like Fusion 360 and the Makersite plug-in were maximized to deliver long-lasting positive impacts.

New manufacturing techniques and innovative materials are making us rethink infrastructure creation, but they've also raised a need for closer structural health monitoring. Autodesk Research collaborated with MX3D to create the world's first 3D-printed steel bridge, and then with Dar Al-Handasah to 3D print a series of bridges from sustainable (recycled and recyclable) material. We drove the effort to add "smarts” to both bridges via sensor networks that capture data about their use. The bridges were modeled as digital twins using innovative visualization technology that has been integrated into Autodesk Platform Services and Autodesk Tandem software. These twins visualize the stress on the bridges' structures as people walk across them. Given the popularity of the 5-meter Dar bridge exhibited at Autodesk University 2022 in New Orleans, we wanted to show more details of our work on these iconic projects, and how they might influence the future of smart and sustainable infrastructure.

Additive manufacturing allows for a plethora of new manufacturing possibilities. But what about sustainability possibilities? Sustainability is a huge topic and one that rightly is garnering more and more attention. The latticing of parts that additive manufacturing allows can provide huge performance benefits, but also environmental benefits. Autodesk and One Click Metal have worked on combining the Autodesk Fusion 360 Volumetric Lattice tool with One Click Metal's hardware capabilities, to showcase the benefits of using lattices for Laser Powderbed Fusion (LPBF) manufacture, and how this can be used to improve the sustainability of 3D prints. This industry talk will discuss the concept of lattices, the benefits of using lattices for LPBF manufacture, the challenges of printing them, and, most importantly, how they can be used in 3D printing to reduce waste, energy consumption, and carbon emissions, and promote eco-friendly manufacturing practices.

This deep dive will focus on capturing manufacturing intent from the design, and we will cover available subtractive methods, programming techniques, and part alignment.

Autodesk acquired an amazing shop-floor solution called Prodsmart in 2022 to serve the Autodesk Fusion 360 user base. The solution is designed to take areas of a manufacturing business—like production tracking, scheduling, and inventory management—digital to streamline operations. Some customers think a solution like this only fits companies that have the opposite environment: low mix, high volume. This class will give tangible tips and tricks on how small businesses with high mix, low volume can completely change the way they work, moving from spreadsheets and paper travelers to completely digital environments, accelerating the small manufacturing businesses' digital transformation.

Inventor Nastran software is a powerful and comprehensive tool available within the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection. This session will introduce you to over 20 Top Inventor Nastran Tips and will include going through different type of connectors including Rigid, Spring and Rod elements using various examples demonstrating Inventor nastran live including Blast Load and Drop Test scenarios. You will be introduced to Linear analysis and Nonlinear Analysis using both implicit and explicit solvers including Nonlinear Transient Response Analysis and Explicit Dynamics Analysis. The session workflows will be based on industry best practices and my experience with working with designers and engineers. The goal of this session is to make you more confident in using Inventor Nastran software, and thus help you make better and more-innovative products within your workplace. The knowledge gained in this session will be also be relevant to Fusion Simulation as it uses the same technology as Inventor Nastran.

In this industry talk on visual collaboration and communication in design and manufacturing using VRED software, you will gain valuable insights that can enhance your product development process. The course will explore the importance of visual collaboration and communication, capitalizing on innovative technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and high-end rendering. You will learn how VRED integrates with these technologies to facilitate digital prototyping, remote collaboration, and streaming of design data. Additionally, the course will emphasize the advantages of cloud-based solutions for seamless access to project data and the use of high-end rendering capabilities. Real-world use-case examples will demonstrate the transformative impact these technologies have on communication, commitment, and sales.

CAD data is the most important intellectual property that a manufacturer has. Autodesk offers products that create, manage, and enrich this data. AutoCAD, Inventor, and Autodesk Fusion 360 software create this data while Vault, Fusion 360 Manage Extension, and Upchain help manage it. The cloud-based Fusion 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud platforms facilitate collaboration within the field, while Prodsmart helps collaboration within production. Simultaneously, aspects of this data need to be shared with other enterprise systems like ERP. Ultimately, all these systems must be able to share aspects of this data throughout the lifecycle of a manufacturer's products. We'll demonstrate, via examples of Autodesk customer projects, how technologies such as Autodesk Platform Services and other third-party technologies make it possible to share this important data between these systems rather than leaving it siloed in different systems.

Autodesk Fusion 360 software continues to evolve for design and manufacturing in a single package. Sheet metal components can be designed using Fusion 360 or imported for virtually any CAD package to have the cutting toolpaths created using the Fusion 360 Manufacture workspace. This class will demonstrate methods for creating nests using both the Arrange command as well as the Nesting using the Nesting and Fabrication Extension. This class will demonstrate how you can use both Advanced Arrange and Nesting to arrange components on a sheet that can be cut using the Fusion 360 Manufacture workspace. The presentation will cover creating or importing files to be nested, setting up nest materials, creating nests, and finally using the Manufacture workspace to add cutting toolpaths to cut out the nests.

In this session, we'll focus on the road map of features and functionality of all the previously released workspaces, those imminently due for release, and those further along in the pipeline. We will feature some cherry-picked in-product demonstrations of the functionality of all the workspaces, while still imparting the vast breadth of capabilities Autodesk Fusion 360 has already acquired and the depth of potential awaiting you in the near future.

This session will show you how to use Autodesk products for the complete electromechanical design workflow of a maker project. You'll learn how to use Autodesk Fusion 360 software for the structural and mechanical design, AutoCAD Electrical software for the electrical design, and Inventor software to combine the two into a full electromechanical workflow and wiring harness design.

Noel Joyce is a wheelchair user and industrial designer currently teaching design and innovation at NYU. A couple years ago, he decided to get back into mountain biking on a handcycle. However, one of the barriers to entry for most people with disabilities who would like to be involved in sports like adaptive mountain biking is the cost of the equipment and the cost of maintenance. As a result of first-hand experience with both, Joyce started Project Mjolnir, the world's first open-source adaptive mountain bike project. Project Mjolinr's goal is to break down the barriers of entry for anyone to get into the sport by creating a bike based on a modular platform that is infinitely changeable, adaptable, and can be built anywhere. Joyce first started the project at NYU in January 2023, iterating on a previous design. The first of four bikes were developed and designed remotely and assembled at NYU in New York in April 2023. The second bike was built in Abu Dhabi in June 2023. And the final two built in Ireland and Shanghai in the subsequent months. Join Joyce to learn more about the project, the design process, and where it's going next.
