Integration of design and making skills can solve this problem with tools like Fusion 360, which is freely available to schools. Fusion 360 synergizes design and manufacturing, enabling students to bring their creative ideas to fruition. However, a heavy content-based curriculum in graduation limits this integration. Established in 2014 at MNIT Jaipur, Autodesk CAM Society is a student-driven club dedicated to teaching and learning manufacturing technology beyond the scope of the curriculum. Their goal is to enhance design & manufacturing skills at an early stage. In one decade, the Society has helped thousands of graduates not only with placement in core companies but also with startups, patent filing, publishing research papers, and winning student competitions. Imperial College London Rocketry is a team of undergraduate engineers learning about aerospace through the design, build, and launch of rockets. With the desire to reach space one day, efficiency in both our process and our designs is critical. Follow us as we take you through our journey in preparation for the 2021 edition of the European Rocketry Challenge (EuRoC). EuRoC is an annual rocketry competition hosting university teams from all over Europe with the aim of building and launching rockets to reach a set altitude. This session will discuss the critical need for a common data environment (CDE) and digital transformation strategies, and we'll explore the construction challenges in transforming the world-renowned Las Vegas Strip into an unforgettable race for the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. We'll showcase how we maximized a CDE with Autodesk design-and-make technology to deliver value to the project. Come and explore the planning, collaboration, and innovation the team needed to address the complexity of building the largest paddock building on the F1 circuit and coordinate nine miles of concrete barriers and fencing. See the logistical challenges of paving the 3.8-mile record-breaking track around the Las Vegas Strip. Tight deadlines, dynamic changes to the design, and the pace of construction will be presented from Penta's perspective. You'll also get a front-row seat to the project's positive impact on the Las Vegas community and the excitement it's bringing to the world's entertainment capital.

This industrial case study will cover a recent design-and-make collaboration between Autodesk and Impression Technologies (ITL), an industry-leading, automotive, hot-forming solutions provider. Together we’ll present a comparison of several mold designs across a range of design approaches and manufacturing technologies. We’ll demonstrate how optimizing design for additive manufacturing can be maximized to achieve more-efficient production times and material usage, improved part quality, and reduced part cost and energy consumption. During the project, experts from Autodesk and ITL collaborated via Autodesk CFD software and the Autodesk Fusion 360 platform. We used simulation and several design methodologies, including conformal cooling and the application of lattice structures via the Autodesk Fusion 360 Product Design extension. The project culminated in the tooling production using Autodesk’s Birmingham Technology Centre metal additive manufacturing systems, and testing and validation at ITL’s research facility.

This class will focus on how students age 10 to 20 are taught to use Autodesk® digital design technologies to design and make creative products and working prototypes that address a variety of needs. We will demonstrate methods for a creative design process and explain how metacognitive thinking skills have been applied in the classroom. We will also discuss our methods and the results of action research carried out on a range of mixed-ability students across the age range.

The Autodesk 2024 Design and Make report showcases that 77% of companies report that upskilling employees is important. They also report they lack resources needed to design training programs. The Design and Make report also reflects that between 2021 and 2023 there's been a 143% increase in Autodesk's Media and Entertainment certification adoption, a 71% increase in AECO certification adoption, and a 100% increase in Autodesk's Design and Make certification adoption.
