In this presentation, we'll look at managing Autodesk Fabrication service and profiles to use the content flexibility that Revit provides. We will explore how to quickly set up a new profile with services designed to get the model started with minimal information. We will discuss what to include in the services, what should instead be added to the parts tab as needed, and how this expedites project startup and allows for quality control checking. We will go over what services should be included in a new profile and how that allows for "on the fly" changing of material and connection types in the model. We will explore a method of creating and tracking customized services and specifications within a profile. And we will discuss using "reload configuration" as a quality control check. All of this will lead to a faster, leaner, more productive workflow.

How does Building Information Modeling (BIM) help architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms extend the services they provide to their clients? This class will look at how Jacobs used BIM on the £350M+ London Blackfriars station project that spans the Thames River in Central London. You will learn about the innovative additional services that they were able to provide to their client Network Rail, constructor Balfour Beatty, and stakeholders and see examples of services that are simply impossible with traditional 2D workflows. The class aims to show how your firm can extend the range of services that it can provide to clients by using BIM. The class will also look at how BIM was used to keep an overground station open with trains passing through during its construction period (nine phases of interim stations) while the London Underground district and circle lines continued to operate under the site. The class will demonstrate how real-time BIM viewing, using Autodesk® Navisworks® software, and planning brought benefits to many stakeholders who had never worked on a BIM-enabled project before.

When switching to Revit MEP Fabrication Parts, one of the first hurdles you need to cross is understanding how to get services and service templates configured in Fabrication software. Knowing how to navigate the services in Fabrication is key. You’ll be surprised by what little customization is required to get a basic service to function correctly in Revit software. Many of the settings that Fabrication CADmep software and Fabrication ESTmep software require are not necessarily required when using these services in Revit. We’ll cover how to deal with issues of connectivity and routing while in Revit and what changes to the database will improve routing and product selection. At the end of the class, you’ll be able to take full advantage of the design-to-fabrication feature in Revit to convert engineers’ design models and reduce coordination time needed to fabricate.

The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) of Victoria, Australia, is delivering a major digital transformation program to manage the transport infrastructure of a state where 6+ million people live. With more than $100 billion in transport infrastructure projects in development through 180+ major projects and with 20,000+ people in jobs, the DTP needed to implement digital engineering standards, processes, and technologies to effectively and securely manage the asset lifecycle from planning to operation and maintenance. This program aims to enhance efficiency through better collaboration and flow of information throughout the project lifecycle. The DTP will present its current digital engineering and digital asset information management initiatives. The session will focus on the road map for streamlining building information modeling (BIM) standards, workflows, and technologies associated with the digital delivery process, and how Autodesk, Esri, and IBM Maximo helped the department better align its processes with technology.

This session is a high-level strategy road map of how companies with a large project portfolio can use Autodesk Construction Cloud to take pragmatic steps within the Autodesk Construction Cloud user interface to benefit both in the short term and long term. We'll use real-world examples using Amazon Transportation Engineering Services (TES) as a case study. We'll work through the practical planning of using cornerstone Autodesk Construction Cloud features such as Issues and Forms, and we'll look at how building on the use of these features can lead to powerful QuickSight dashboards, and, later, robust machine learning. The presentation will be broken down into three categories: 1) The Foundation: using out-of-the-box Autodesk Construction Cloud features with specific use cases; 2) The Frame: building automations and integrations to aid in manual efforts (with a focus on Autodesk Platform Services); and 3) The Roof: advanced machine learning and AI using Amazon Web Services (AWS). For each of these categories, we'll investigate the appropriate tools available in our toolbox (Autodesk Platform Services and AWS).
