We will cover how to get started and extract data from the model, how to generate report from the extracted information, and how to integrate with other providers—all by reading InfraWorks 360 software models using the REST API. Our techniques and workflow include high-end existing modeling conditions, road design representations in InfraWorks combined with built-in road and bridge design tools, ArcGIS Data collection and presentation in InfraWorks, Ramboll Risk Management data representation in InfraWorks, BIM 360 as collaboration tool for InfraWorks, InfraWorks data flow for 3ds Max software or Forge in the future, advanced visualization—virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR)—and more. We will expose attendees to leading practices using InfraWorks for data visualization and aggregation, and they will get inspired about how to improve design efficiency and reduce risk on the projects.

This class will discuss the lessons URS Corporation learned when dealing with a large project area covering over 37,500 square miles of the Navaho Nation. URS developed a workflow to apply the client's imagery and topographical data, which utilized over 3225 digital elevation models (DEMs) and 37 enhanced compression wavelet (ECW) files. Navaho Nation asked URS to develop several 3D fly-through educational videos displaying identified flood hazards over this model to show impacts on housing projects. Multiple teams developed data using geographic information system (GIS) applications. They then transferred the data to InfraWorks software to develop the product. The Project Team had originally intended to use 3ds Max software but transitioned to InfraWorks software due to its ability to auto project and symbolize the GIS data in 3D. This project was a huge success because of the ability of InfraWorks software to work with native GIS data.

Intended for beginning and intermediate users of InfraWorks software and AutoCAD Civil 3D software, this class will show the civil industry professionals techniques for creating renderings and depicting custom models utilizing multiple Autodesk tools. Using tools provided in Infrastructure Design Suite civil engineering software (AutoCAD Civil 3D software, InfraWorks software, Revit software, and 3ds Max software), this class will consist of a live demo showing how to create and use grading, site geometry, and custom FBX models that you can use in your InfraWorks models. How InfraWorks is changing urban development

At the heart of every utility is a great source of data, but it can be overwhelming to visualize this data, especially when managing several types of utilities and varied types of data. Additionally, it can be valuable to have a solution for conflict resolution to plan projects appropriately and prevent additional construction delays. In this course we will consider InfraWorks for utilities as an in-house Solution that we can use to visualize the current state of the assets' locations and view potential conflicts and model-design possibilities in a 1-stop shop. We will demonstrate how to import various types of data into InfraWorks software, how to utilize the model for the utilities' assets (overhead and underground), and how a utility can work with other stakeholders to prevent conflicts and to preplan complex projects. We will present short case studies from 2 different organizations—the City of Alexandria and Okaloosa Gas District—and we'll show how these organizations are using InfraWorks software to create models for major projects.

The aim of this round table is to discuss the common issues that occur when we're masterplanning mixed-use developments and how we can use InfraWorks software to address these issues. Maybe you're familiar with some of these issues regarding the early stages of a project: you need to do the outline design of roads and drainage but you only have a PDF version of the masterplan; there isn't enough room to accommodate sustainable urban drainage features; you need to know the potential impact on buildings from a given flood event. Once we have established the key problem areas, we will discuss how we can harness the power of the visualization capabilities available within InfraWorks software in order to demonstrate to our clients the potential issues and the possible solutions to those issues. We will then discuss the problems we have had when trying to create development models in InfraWorks software, and we'll explore how we can overcome these problems.
