The Building Blocks for Successful Change

Learn a framework for supporting teams in transformation and encouraging innovation

Change is a constant in industry today. New tools, new processes, and new approaches are transforming how and what we design and make every few years. And with 5% failure costs common for many construction companies and minimal productivity growth in the industry overall, more change is not only possible—it’s necessary. But how do you make the change stick? How can you support people in the continued learning that’s required to adopt and integrate new technologies? Jeroen Tishauser shares what’s worked at VolkerWessels, a global construction company focused on infrastructure. Following the ADKAR model (Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, Reinforcement), he suggests an ongoing process of introduction, education, training, adoption, and celebration, focusing clearly on the ROI every step of the way. Our current era of transformation is far from over—and many expect the pace of change to accelerate, Tishauser points out. So any successful company needs a framework for transformation that can be relied on to encourage adoption and innovation moving forward.
