As more importance is being placed on Building Information Modeling (BIM) models and 3D deliverables and the lifecycle management of project data, there is still the need to present the 2D representations of the model in a clear and concise format that utilizes time-tested effective practices for drawing and drafting standards. In most cases our deliverables are still the 2D plan sets. How many of your engineers, designers, and architects utilize software design packages but have not been instructed in effective drafting practices that help to tell the story on the construction documents that are going to the contractor? In this round-table session we will discuss what organizations are doing to preserve the craft of drafting, and we'll cover how to handle moving between the 3D models to a 2D plan set deliverable.

- RARebecca ArshamRebecca Arsham is the corporate CADD training manager for Parsons Brinckerhoff, one of the world's leading architectural, engineering, and construction management organizations. As the global CADD training manager, she is responsible for the development of the corporate-wide CADD training program. Rebecca also has extensive experience in the development and integration of the "community of practice" approach to promote staff engagement, specifically in regards to knowledge sharing, adoption of new technologies, and career development. - FRFranklin RyanFranklin Ryan is the corporate CADD Services Manager for Parsons Brinckerhoff. Franklin currently manages the Autodesk Enterprise Business Agreement for Balfour Beatty and is responsible for the CADD Services Group in the US which provides licensing, support, training, standards and BIM implementations for Autodesk and other CADD software. Franklin is the author of 'All About Licensing' which was published in AUGIWorld magazine in October 2011. Franklin has extensive experience in the development and integration of corporate Communities of Practice to promote staff engagement specifically in regards to knowledge sharing and career development.
