The 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes in New Zealand decimated a city full of 500,000 people. Government and residents required fast and decisive action. Twelve years later, the rebuild continues. What would this city's rebuild look like now with all the new technology applied? Could we respond more rapidly? Could the city be carbon neutral? Would we focus on the same projects? Would the projects look different if we measured embodied carbon? Would we have greater collaboration and data analytics capture and use? Would we gain efficiencies? We will explore all this in this class. We'll have a recap of the event, the damage, the decisions made that set the ground for the next 20+ years of work, and how we might approach the planning, design, delivery, and future of the city and its anchor projects if we could do it all again. We'll explore and demonstrate key workflows, processes, data-informed decision making, and software with some of the real-world design-and-built projects. We will explore the implementation of InfraWorks software, Autodesk Forma, Dynamo, ReCap software, Autodesk Construction Cloud Pro, and Insight X and share our ideas for the future.

Growing up and now living in Christchurch, New Zealand, Brad has a family background in the construction industry that has led to his 20 years of experience as a project architect, lead consultant and BIM Manager across large and complex projects. He has an in-depth understanding of the intricacies of design and construction deliverables and has been at the forefront of pioneering innovative approaches to project procurement and delivery. Brad is an industry leading specialist in applying digital processes for a greater understanding of projects through data, always striving for increases in efficiency. Brad is a Principal and Digital Services Lead at Warren and Mahoney leading BIM projects externally, the internal Digital Support team and supporting clients, stakeholders, consultants, contractors and trades in briefing, understanding, procuring and implementing digital technologies and processes on their projects.
