The Autodesk Corporate Real Estate, Facilities, Travel, Safety and Security (CREFTS) team manages over two million square feet of space in 38 countries with a staff of 200. We use BIM 360 Ops for asset management. Here is how we use categories.
Asset and Ticket Categories
When we began using BIM 360 Ops, categories could be created by anyone on the team. As a result, almost 300 categories were created, which made them useless for grouping data. With input from our managers and our technicians we came up with the following list:
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- Building Interior
- Building Exterior
- Appliance
- Audio/Visual
- Copy/Print
- Cleaning
- Events
- Furniture
- Move/Add/Change
- Security
- Shipping
- EH&S
- Signage
- Other
These categories are defined in our Portfolio Settings and can only be updated there.
Building Categories
We also use categories to manage our buildings according to our three geographic regions: Americas, APAC, and EMEA. Each building is assigned a category to enable portfolio filters and reporting for the regional CREFTS teams.
