The 2020 AEC Excellence Awards program recognizes outstanding achievements in the field, honoring architects, engineers and fabricators who set the gold standard in building design.

ES CON FIELD HOKKAIDO | Obayashi Corporation, Japan
Baseball team Nippon Ham Fighters have a new stadium in Kita Hiroshima, Hokkaido. Noteworthy features of this project include a retractable roof, an iconic glass curtain wall and a natural grass field.
Kai Tak Sports Park | Hip Hing Engineering Co., Ltd. & Kai Tak Sports Park Ltd., Hong Kong
Building design for one of the largest indoor-outdoor sports projects in Hong Kong accommodates the needs of both professional and casual athletes. This project also makes room for other entertainment and retail.
South Beach Psychiatric Center New In-patient Building | Architectural Resources, United States

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, this new 221,000-square-foot, 262-bed behavioral health facility was rapidly adapted for emergency support.
Medium Projects ($20-$200 million)
Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital | CITIC General Institute of Architectural Design and Research Co., Ltd. , China
This hospital for COVID-19 patients used a relay approach to design with professionals working two shifts. The team carried out construction concurrently to build in less than 10 days.

This ambitious development with three living units on a floating island called for building design that factors in agriculture and green public spaces.
Panama Cruise Port | Mallol Arquitectos, Panama
Located on an artificial island at the Panama Canal entrance, this building incorporates post-modern architecture with a focus on sustainability and is sure to anchor a major Panamanian tourist destination.

A complex MEP infrastructure is the beating heart of this high-rise, which houses the largest multifunctional ophthalmology hospital in Fuzhou, China.
BIM for Public Rental Housing Management | Berrilan BIM, Spain
This pioneering climate change and social engineering initiative uses BIM to analyze and optimize energy consumption in public housing assets.

Now in its ninth year, the AEC Excellence Awards celebrates outstanding innovation and creativity in the AEC space. From a field of 216 entries from over 30 countries, this global event is a true testament to the dedication and ingenuity of our community.
