AutoCAD for Mac 2024 is here! We’re excited to share the new enhancements and features that improve performance, enable greater collaboration, and provide time-saving automation.
For the first time, AutoCAD for Mac 2024 and AutoCAD LT for Mac 2024 now run natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon architectures, including M1 and M2 chips in the M-series chips. The support for Apple Silicon can increase overall performance by up to two times compared to 2023.*
“AutoCAD for Mac 2024 and AutoCAD LT for Mac 2024 deliver incredible, new performance improvements with the ability to run AutoCAD natively on Apple silicon,” says Dania El Hassan, Director of Product Management for AutoCAD, Autodesk. “It’s exciting to see how customers can now take full advantage of the latest hardware and M-series chips for faster ways to work.”
Let’s look at the other new features now available in AutoCAD for Mac 2024.
Exclusive to AutoCAD
Markup Import and Markup Assist
With the new Markup Import and Markup Assist features, you can use machine learning to identify markups and provide a way to view and insert drawing revisions with less manual effort. Markups can be imported as a PDF ping or jpeg file. These markups can be the entire drawing or a portion of the drawing and are placed in a new trace.
You can use Markup Import to overlay a scan or a photograph of a drawing that has hand drawn or computer drafted markups.
For example, if you have a PDF version of your drawing that has text and revision notes added, use Markup Import to overlay the revised drawing on top of the original. Or, if you have a printed version of your drawing that contains hand-written revision notes, you can take a photograph of the printed version and then import it as a JPG or PNG. The imported file is automatically placed and aligned on top the drawing file in a new trace.
Markup Assist lets you insert those identified markups into the drawing as geometry and can detect certain instructions and markup texts like move, copy or delete. You can edit the text before inserting it or choose to copy the text to the clipboard.
Additionally, AutoCAD includes exclusive updates to the Trace environment: Drawing Background and Faded Markup are available as new settings.
Available in Both AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT
Smart Blocks: Placement
Automatically place blocks in your drawing by inferring the position of the next block based on where you’ve inserted the same ones thus far in your DWG file, reducing the number of clicks and saving you time in the process.
Trace Updates
The Trace environment continues to improve and now includes the new COPYFROMTRACE command and new settings controls on the toolbar. New settings include Overlay Effect; Geometry in Trace; Drawing Background; and Faded Markup.
3D Color Background Application Preference Updates
In the AutoCAD Preferences dialog, the Look and Feel tab now has settings to customize the background color for 3D visual styles including both parallel and perspective mode.
3D Connexion Device Support
You can use a 3Dconnexion device to reorient and navigate a model’s view. The device has a pressure-sensitive controller cap designed to flex in all directions. When a view change occurs with the 3Dconnexion 3D mouse, the ViewCube tool is reoriented to reflect the current view. Note: The 3Dconnexion device only works in a 3D visual style.
New Language Support: Italian and Spanish
AutoCAD for Mac now supports Italian and Spanish. You can change the language in the Application Preferences dialog. Restart AutoCAD for Mac to see the language change.
