Receiving drawing files from a client or subcontractor can sometimes be tricky if they include external references.
When you open a drawing file, a dialog box like this might pop up informing you that you’re missing one or more referenced files.
Now what? How do you figure out what drawing files are missing?
Reference Manager is an Autodesk utility that can help you manage external references without having to open AutoCAD. With the Reference Manager you can quickly identify the drawing files that are missing, along with text fonts, images, plot configurations, and other referenced files. You can also update paths for missing references.
This can all be done inside of the Reference Manager utility without having to open and save each drawing individually.
Learn more about how to get started using the Reference Manager utility by following the step-by-step examples in the Have You Tried: Manage References Outside AutoCAD topic.
