Welcome to the 13th (lucky you!) post in this “What’s New in AutoCAD 2017?” series. Weeks ago, I focused on the AutoCAD 2017 improvements to 2D graphics. But 3D graphics gets a boost, too: Improved stability and performance from a new 3D graphics subsystem. Now you can view and orbit large 3D models, with visual styles, and you won’t experience adaptive degradation. Previously, it would automatically turn off visual features during interactive display operations to maintain an acceptable frame rate.

The performance for 3D drawings has been improved overall, but especially for models with a large number of small blocks containing edges and facets. Use any 3D Navigation tools to experience the improved performance.
