Artificial intelligence continues to be top of mind, not only within the construction industry. Everyone is talking about AI and how it can help them now whether it’s asking detailed questions to ChatGPT or leveraging AI to do a simple task that would have taken you hours. We are all starting to explore new ways to improve the way we currently work, with AI a part of the solution.

When it comes to AI in construction, Autodesk continues to be a leader after spending the last 10+ years developing and researching how AI can help the building industry specifically. But outside of what we are building natively within Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), there are also some exciting things around AI you can do by connecting data into Microsoft Copilot.

How to connect data from Autodesk Construction Cloud into Microsoft Copilot

Autodesk Construction Cloud has a tool called the Data Connector, which essentially allows admins to extract project data from ACC to use with other business intelligence tools. Many of you might already be using the feature along with one of our pre-made KPI templates with tools like Power BI to visualize your data.

One thing you may not know is that Data Connector has a supported connector directly into the Microsoft Fabric framework. This means that with a one-time simple set up, your data can seamlessly flow between Autodesk Construction Cloud into any of the applications supported by Microsoft Fabric including Power BI and Copilot.

Once your data is in the Microsoft Fabric framework you can leverage Copilot to ask specific questions around your data and get instant results.

How does this benefit me

There are a lot of ways that the connection between Data Connector and Microsoft Fabric can help you in your day-to-day work, but here three of the top benefits:

  1. Saves Time – With a one-time set up, you can easily connect your data from ACC into tools like Power BI so your team has instant visibility into dashboards and can make more informed decisions without wasting time digging for information.
  1. Centralizes Data – By having one place to aggregate your data, it’s easier to manage and connect data to other solutions. Additionally, by having all your data in one place, you can see the big picture analytics, not siloed to spot solutions.
  1. Access to AI – By connecting your data into Microsoft Fabric, you can leverage Microsoft Copilot to help you more quickly find the information you need. And now that your data is centralized, you can harness the power if AI not only today and but in the future as more functionality and opportunity becomes available.
