Educators: Join us for a new webinar series designed to help you bring the latest tools and technologies from the construction field into your classroom to inspire your students with lessons that are grounded in real-life skills and scenarios.
Our next live webinar on Tuesday, December 10 will focus on Reshaping Construction: Autodesk Build for field management.
Our featured guest speakers will be Christy Steffen, Assistant Director of Gaylor University at Gaylor Electric, and Blake Hurd, Instructional Designer at Gaylor Electric.
“How does this apply to me?”
Steffen, who helps oversee Gaylor University at Gaylor Electric, says she hears this question a lot from the field teams she supports in integrating new technologies into their workflows. After 17 years in public education as a special education teacher before changing careers five years ago to join Gaylor, a large electrical contractor in the United States, she is well-versed in personal learning strategies and ways of motivating others to achieve continuous improvement.
“Where can you be more efficient in your specific project?” is the question she commonly finds herself asking in response during her one-on-one interactions with colleagues.
Just like in the classroom with students, specialty contractors like Gaylor must set up their field teams and craft professionals to be successful, so that they can be equipped with the right data to make decisions and bring new projects to life.
Having facilitated the rollout of Autodesk Build at her organization in 2021, Steffen continues to support project teams in becoming more effective with Autodesk Construction Cloud products. She also manages the firm's learning management system and other initiatives, including ones that take place on the jobsite.
Two years ago, Hurd joined her team as an instructional designer. As a former middle school classroom teacher with a background in engineering, he and Steffen are perfectly paired to teach their industry peers ways to adapt to challenges better, stay safe on the jobsite, and be more productive by embracing digital construction skills.
During Tuesday’s webinar, Hurd and Steffen will share how they have taken instructional methods from the classroom and transferred them out into the construction field, so that you can bring these same lessons and real-life scenarios back to your students. They will also share demonstrations of how they use Autodesk Build to teach skills for improved communication across the project lifecycle by leveraging forms, issues, meetings, and correspondence.
In addition to exploring questions about how you can teach your students to use Build to connect field and project management workflows, you will also hear from the Autodesk Construction Cloud team about Autodesk’s Educator Learning Resources designed to help you seamlessly integrate Autodesk Construction Cloud into your classroom.
You will take away core skills to develop your knowledge in construction that can be applied to teaching curriculum that bridges the gaps across vocational education, academia, and industry.
These one-hour interactive sessions are a combination of information sharing and product demonstrations. Recordings are available after each event, but educators are encouraged to join us live and make connections within our vibrant education community. We’ll also leave time for participants to ask the Autodesk Construction Cloud team questions.
In addition to this webinar, we have recorded a playlist of previous episodes with an exciting array of topics and speakers meant to aid you in helping your students discover how cutting-edge technology can overcome some of construction’s biggest challenges.
