How Connected Construction Enables Seamless Communication Across the Jobsite

Construction projects have many moving parts, and managing all those different elements is crucial for project success. One wrong piece of information can create a snowball effect and potentially lead to project teams building off the wrong set of plans resulting in schedule delays, cost overruns, and a loss in morale.

One way to ensure that teams are coordinated and working off the latest data set is connected construction. By connecting and integrating workflows and data, information flows seamlessly from one system to the next, ensuring collaboration across stakeholders. At its core, connected construction connects teams, processes, and information from start to finish across the project’s lifecycle.

To better understand how our customers define connected construction and the value of integrated workflows, we asked, “what does connected construction mean to you?” The following response is from Greg Scott, Project Director at Webcor Builders.

My name's Greg Scott. I'm with Webcor Builders as part of our Concrete division and I'm a Project Director.

What's most exciting for me is what we can build. It's no longer a box, it's no longer a rectangle.

Connected Construction to me is all about the communication. It's about all the parties involved. Being able to have accurate information at their fingertips and be able to share and communicate back and forth. There are so many parties that are not at the construction site but are vital to what we do as a contractor every day and having all those parties connected in a seamless environment that's really what being connected means to me.

Construction is a people business and we’re never going to get away from that. And so whatever the technology can do to benefit the people involved to increase the effectiveness, timeliness, accuracy of information, that’s the biggest fit where I see technology in the construction industry moving forward.
