Dedicated to the core purpose of building great things with great people, Windover creates state-of-the-art commercial and institutional spaces, urban multi-family communities, and select custom homes. Windover works with clients throughout New England to provide construction management, design-build, project development, and virtual design and construction services. As a 100% employee-owned firm, Windover is differentiated by its people and focused on providing exceptional experiences for clients and all team partners from project inception to completion.
Amr Raafat, Vice President of VDC and Technology at Windover Construction shares Windover’s technology-forward approach that has transformed and reinvigorated conventional construction management processes. “Technology by itself is powerful, but when you combine data from disparate sources together – like drone mapping, laser scanning, and BIM coordination – you get powerful insights,” says Raafat.
Fittingly, Amr was named a 2019 Innovator of the Year, an international award recognizing an individual that is leading, changing, and transforming the design and/or construction process in a positive way.
Windover also won the Construction: Small Project (less than $100 million) category for their groundbreaking combination of modular construction techniques and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) applications on CANVAS, an upscale, mixed-use, transit-oriented apartment community covering 153,000 square feet in Beverly, Massachusetts.
Watch and learn about Windover’s approach to modular construction, and how they’re using Autodesk Construction Cloud™ to make their vision a reality for clients.

Amr Raafat, Vice President VDC and Technology at Windover Construction: Windover is a construction management firm and a leader in modular construction. Technology for me is a mix between data processing, how we handle the data in an innovative way and how we make all of these different technologies work together in harmony to offer real time solutions on our jobsites.
CANVAS is a prime example. It’s a mixed-use project in Beverly, Mass. It's two residential buildings, 136 units. It's a mix of structural steel and modular construction.
We combined data from point mapping of actual steel with the laser scanning from below to have very accurate representation that allowed us to place all these boxes virtually first, before we place them on site. And that led to no conflicts because you are coordinating with as-built steel, and that wouldn't be happening without three things: Drone mapping, laser scanning and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Modular itself saves a long time. By transforming modular construction using technology and Autodesk Construction Cloud and resolving conflicts early on by real time communication with the factory, we're able to save at least three months from the schedule.
We built over the years this in-house expertise. It takes a team for modular construction with great project managers, superintendents, and with our in-house BIM team, we're able to collaborate with all the project teams to transform this process to be more efficient and safer.
