This week, we held one of our most-attended Water Talks ever. We talked about new, innovative methods for design and analysis and how water professionals can use them to design sustainable drainage systems that meet the demands of an ever-evolving industry.

The challenges of climate change run deep. Are you taking into account increased heat? Learn about “heat sponges”, reflective heat, and wind blocking in What Is an Urban Heat Island—and What Can Designers Do to Prevent One?

Midori Patterson kicked off the presentation by acknowledging that climate change is only going to be come a bigger issue – it’s not just theoretical and as water professionals we’re obligated to use all of the tools in our toolbox that we can to alleviate the problems of a warming planet. Did you know that 7,000 heat records were broken across the United States in the past year? That means you don’t only have to think about increased rainfall but urban heat islands, too.

Ryan has his stormwater t-shirt on and is ready to go.

Thanks to everyone who attended and brought tons of great questions to the conversation.
