The Australian Rainfall and Runoff Guidelines (ARR19) are critical in providing reliable flood risk estimates to ensure infrastructure is designed well to keep communities safe and environments protected.

The addition of ARR19 in the latest release of InfoDrainage means Australian designers, engineers, and planners can streamline their drainage design processes for land development, major infrastructure, on things such as highways or rail or retrofit and relief schemes in compliance with the official guidelines. It also means you don’t have to rely on spreadsheets and that you’ll never input the wrong information, which should give you a boost of confidence in your design submissions and the time you put into it.

Our InfoDrainage support docs explain all the details, but this video 👇 will show you exactly how to access the ARR design information in the app and how to use it effectively.

History of changes in ARR

The ARR is produced by the National Committee on Water Engineers (NCWE), a specialist committee of Engineers Australia in partnership with Geoscience Australia. ARR has undergone a number of revisions, the most significant in 2016. The guidelines were last updated by in 2019, but the changes made then were minimal, more about conforming to computerised ways of working. Which is to say that these days more and more water professionals are using apps like ours and plugging in the guidelines programmatically or via APIs.

Do you use InfoDrainage? If not, we offer a 30-day free trial of our drainage design software – no credit card required. You’ll receive the most recent release, which includes ARR19.
