Delay when running commands in AutoCAD products

Issue:

While working in AutoCAD products, the program hangs for several seconds to several minutes after some or each command or function, even with basic commands such as PAN, MOVE, ERASE, and LINE, or just selecting an object.

The program appears frozen until it recovers on its own.
Sometimes, different results may be seen when using Enter on the keyboard versus Enter from the command selection pop-out in AutoCAD.

Solution:

Do one or more of the following:

Install the latest updates for AutoCAD (see Install Updates, Add-ons, and Enhancements).
Update the graphics driver on the system (see How to update to the latest certified video driver).
Verify AutoCAD is using the correct graphics card (see AutoCAD uses the wrong graphics card).
Disable high-end visual effects. Enter GRAPHICSCONFIG in the AutoCAD command and turn off High Quality Geometry and Line Smoothing.
Check for invalid or incorrect paths. Go to Application Menu > Options > Files and remove applicable paths.
Move files to a supported file storage location (see Autodesk support for non-Microsoft networks and Autodesk support for Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN) devices).
Delete temporary files (see How to delete temporary files in Windows).
For specific drawings, clean and repair the file and all external references to the file (see How to repair corrupt AutoCAD files).
Reset AutoCAD to defaults (see How to reset AutoCAD to defaults).
Test for other software interference. Disable background programs such as antivirus and backup software (see Use Windows diagnostic mode to troubleshoot issues with Autodesk software).
Uninstall and reinstall AutoCAD while logged in as the administrator and with antivirus software disabled using the recommended procedures.
Uninstall the A360 Desktop App (see How to uninstall A360 Desktop).
If the Factory Design Suite is installed, disable the Snap to connector setting (see Performance issues while editing, opening, and syncing a drawing in AutoCAD with Factory Design Utilities loaded).
Detach missing references from the Reference Manager (see To Work With Attaching and Detaching Referenced Drawings).
Verify that the user has full permissions as required for AutoCAD (What user permissions does AutoCAD require?).
Remove or correct Missing Standards File paths:
1. Check for and fix or remove invalid paths in OPTIONS > Files > Support file search paths.
2. Sometimes a warning that contains the path will be displayed when opening the file. Click Run Configure Standards to see the path.
