How to transfer ownership of a Fusion Team Hub or BIM 360 Team Hub

Issue:

Users reported that a business hub in Fusion Team or BIM 360 Team requires an owner change due to:

  • An employee leaving the company.
  • A new account does not have all privileges to the drawings/files database. 
  • "Basic Access" is displayed for the new Team Admin of the Cloud Storage owned by another user.
  • There is a need to transfer ownership of the Team Hub to someone within the company.
  • A business purchase has lead to a need to transfer the old Team Hub to new owners.

Solution:

Determine if you have access rights to transfer the Team Hub:

  • The user account accepting ownership of the Team Hub must not already own a Team hub. See: Unable to create multiple Team Hubs in Fusion.
  • The user account accepting ownership of the Team Hub must already be an Admin in the Team hub. See: How to add a Team Administrator in an Autodesk Fusion Team Hub. 
  • If no other Admins are listed for the Team Hub, you must have the Autodesk account password for the current owner, or access to the email account to reset the password. 
  • Being an Admin in the Autodesk Account Team (licenses and payments) does not give ownership or access rights to anyone's Team Hub or give them permission to assign Admins for the Team Hub. Only the Owner and Admins of the Fusion Team Hub may perform this change. 
  • Transfer requests from an account with the same Email domain as the current owner have no additional rights to the Team Hub and must follow the same guidance above for support.

Notes:

  • Once the hub owner has changed, there is a possibility that Admin rights will need to be assigned to closed projects in Fusion. See: How to change or assign admin rights on projects in Fusion.

  • Even if the email domain matches between the two users for the transfer, The recipient of the Team Hub must already be an Admin in the Team Hub. Autodesk can not add new users or promote active users to Admin.
