On Demand Webinar

Pipe design is generally a two-stage process, first designing with steady state flows to meet a ‘no surcharge’ criteria, second with dynamic simulation to meet a ‘no flood’ criteria. This presentation looks in detail at the first of these two processes. The automated pipe design tool has long been an integral part of MicroDrainage, but do we actually understand how it works? The development of InfoDrainage has allowed us to look again at the process of pipe design and the webinar explains how the tool works, using a variety of simple and more complex examples. There is no substitute for the skill of an experienced urban drainage design professional, so the webinar shows how the tool can be used by them to optimise the pipe design process.

  • Learn how flows are calculated at this stage of the process.
  • Understand the options available to minimise costs.
  • Dealing with challenging sites:
    • Steep and flat sites.
    • Meeting a fixed outfall level.
    • Avoiding existing infrastructure.
    • Designing downstream of a flow restriction.
  • On some sites it is simply not possible to meet all the design criteria. In this situation, which criteria are compromised, how are they compromised and what warnings are given?
