Issue:

How to control the use of non-standard lineweights in AutoCAD. Setting the default lineweight to a value different from the company or office standard can "override" what is expected for lineweight output. This can be especially difficult to control in a multi-user environment.

Solution:

The default lineweight settings in AutoCAD are not saved within individual drawings. The following suggestions can help ensure that all users maintain the proper standards.
  • Use a plot style table when plotting drawings. Plot style table settings override the default lineweight settings. In a network environment, place the plot style tables on the server for everyone to access and set the path in AutoCAD for each user to this folder.

  • Setup lineweights in templates to help ensure consistency. Store the templates on the network server and point all users' template folders to this common location.

  • Do not use "Default" as a lineweight setting for any layer.
