You want to insert multiple blocks at various selected locations in a drawing without repeatedly having to invoke the INSERT command.

The standard INSERT command inserts only one block at a time. After a block is inserted, the command is exited. You can use the MINSERT command to insert multiple blocks in a rectangular array. However, with the MINSERT command you cannot place individual blocks at any selected coordinate location.

To insert several block references individually without exiting the INSERT command, use the MULTIPLE command. Follow these steps:

  1. Enter multiple on the command line. (The MULTIPLE command repeats the next command entered, until you press ESC or enter Cancel.)
  2. Enter insert as the command to be repeated.
  3. Select one block or file to insert and define your values in the dialog box as needed.
  4. Click OK to return to the drawing.
  5. Pick the insertion point and enter any other values required. When you have finished placing the block, the MULTIPLE command automatically returns you to the Insert dialog box.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 until you have inserted all block references.
  7. Press the ESC key to end the command and to return to the command prompt.
Note: The MULTIPLE command repeats only the command name, any parameters must be specified each time. MULTIPLE does not repeat most commands that display dialog boxes. You must enter a hyphen ( - ) before the command name to invoke command prompt use of the command. For example, -INSERT.
