Issue:

When more than one user with the same username makes changes in a workshared Revit model various worksharing issues can occur, such as the following:

  • Incompatible local models. The following errors are seen when synchronizing a workshared model in Revit.

    • "Revit cannot reconcile the differences between your local file and the central model"

    • "Your local file is not compatible with the central model"

  • The same elements can be modified by each user working under the same username.

  • Changes made by one user are reverted when synchronizing.

Solution:

Same Autodesk Account is signed into Revit:

On each system working with the model go through the following steps:

  1. If possible, save unsynchronized changes to central (as the steps below will change the username, making existing local files inaccessible).

  2. Confirm access to product:

    1. Login to your individual Autodesk Account.

      1. If you don't already have an Autodesk Account, use the following link to create one: Create an Account.

    2. Check if Revit is in the list of All Products & Services.

      1. If using a trial, click Active Trials on the left, and confirm the trail is listed.

    3. If Revit is not listed, check with your account admin (primary or secondary) and have them assign a seat of Revit to your account.

  3. Sign out of the Autodesk Account within Revit.

  4. Sign in with individual (unique) Autodesk Account.

  5. Create New local file.

No Autodesk Account signed into Revit (Uncommon):

  3. Set a unique username.
