Issue:

Several strange issues are occurring in Maya simultaneously. Including (but not limited to) slow performance, missing menu items, shelves, content, or icons.

Causes:

Corrupted Maya preferences.

Solution:

To clear out corrupted Maya Preferences, follow this guide: Reset Maya to Default
Check if Maya is using the high performance graphic card of the computer: How to configure Autodesk software to use high-performance graphics
