Controlling the standard, the units, dimension, layering and other automatic options for AutoCAD Mechanical is handled in the options.
00:17
You can apply a border based on scale, and have the drawing adapt to suit your desired printing scale.
00:26
If you change your mind later, you can change the border and scale automatically with AutoCAD Mechanical.
00:35
Using the AM Options command, you can go into the AM Standards tab and modify things like the standard that's used for your drawing.
00:44
There's a broad variety of standards, what measurement unit will be used.
00:50
And with all of the things that AutoCAD Mechanical does to assist you,
00:54
you can preset the standards the color, the behavior of those objects in the field on the right.
01:01
We also have the option of setting the scale for the model in this dialog.
01:05
However, instead, we'll use AutoCAD Mechanical’s ability to scale the border,
01:10
and the size of the text in the dimensions and annotation to fit the scale that we want.
01:18
Starting the Title Block tool, you can select a desired paper format, set the Title Block,
01:25
and either enter a scale manually, or use the calculation tool to let you know what scale the drawing would be to properly fit that border.
01:35
Then the border can be placed into the drawing.
01:39
You can enter your information and relocate the drawing in the border.
01:45
Once this is done, you'll notice that all the dimensions and annotation changed size,
01:50
in order to fit the desired printed scale and the desired printed text size.
02:02
With a little bit of cleanup, your drawing is ready to print.
02:06
However, if you decide that you want to change what the drawing scale is, that's a simple process as well.
02:13
With a simple double click on the border, it will take you back to the dialog box where you can change the paper format and the scale.
02:23
Once this is done, you'll relocate your drawing views again,
02:27
and you'll see that all the dimension sizes have been updated to once again align the desired text size and the printed scale.
