I'd like to replace the shaders on this model
00:06
with some of the preset shaders from the library.
00:10
But first, there's no environment in the scene.
00:12
So, I'm going to import a simple environment.
00:14
so the shaders have something to reflect.
00:19
I'll open the Hardware Shade dialog and select Use Environment,
00:23
and you can see that the shader now have reflections.
00:31
Next, I'll go to the Shader Library and search for metallic car paint,
00:36
and then I'll use the middle mouse button to drag and drop
00:39
the red car paint onto the orange shader to replace it.
00:44
Then, in the Shader Editor, what I'd like to do is modify its Reflectivity,
00:49
so it starts to reflect the environment.
00:52
Next, I'll change the Specular Color to modify how deep the color is
00:56
and what its reflection is like.
01:08
On this model, I have the front red hood and the rear red wing,
01:13
and I'd like to apply a different texture to each of them.
01:17
So, I'm going to duplicate this shader, and then I'm
01:20
going to pick the wing and apply the second shader.
01:29
On the first shader, I'd like to add a number.
01:32
So, under the Diffuse Color,
01:33
I'll select the Add Texture button which brings up the Texture Editor.
01:37
Then, I'll choose an image to apply.
01:59
By default, this is a UV map which applies separately to all assigned surfaces.
02:05
I'm going to change that to a solid Planar projection,
02:09
and turn off Wrap, so the one image is applied to the assigned surfaces as a group.
02:16
When I select Show Transform,
02:18
and turn off shading,
02:19
you can see that there's a green transform that controls the texture.
02:23
Select Move Texture to display the manipulator,
02:27
and move, rotate, and scale the image into the correct position.
02:43
In Alias, for decals like this, you need to provide a stencil.
02:47
In the Image tab under Effects, turn on Stencil, and then choose your mask image.
03:04
Now, when you select Move, you can move both the stencil and the mask together,
03:08
which is new for 2024.
