Customize sections
Creating sections - Exercise
The great thing about Revit is the sections are created when you model the plans… well, mostly. If we model walls, doors, floors, and windows, we are getting Revit ready to start creating section views. Sorry. I know I just said exactly the same thing as the last set of instructions. That's because sections and elevations are basically the same thing.
To create a section view, follow along with these steps.
- Open Revit.
- I’m going to open our architectural model… of course.
- Go to the roof floor plan.
- Zoom in on the area shown in the figure below.
- Type VG for Visibility Graphics.
- Go to the Annotation Categories tab.
- Find Sections and turn them on, as shown below.
- Click OK.
- On the View tab, click the Section button.
- Pick the two points illustrated below.
- Hit <Esc> a couple of times.
- Double-click on the section bubble to open it up.
- In Properties, rename the view to GARDEN SECTION.
- Save the model.
