Import Revit files to 3ds Max

Any referenced datasets can be downloaded from "Module downloads" in the module overview.

Importing and linking workflows - Exercise

Task 1: Import it into our new scene

  1. In the file menu, select Import>Import….



  2. Select the Medical Center.rvt file and click Open.



  3. You will see an Import Settings dialog box. Leave Select Revit View as the default.
  4. For the Combination Rule, select Combine By Revit Family Type and Revit Material. This way the Revit objects belonging to the same family type with the same material become a single object.
  5. For the Revit View Detail Level: Objects:
    1. Uncheck Daylight System.
    2. Select Materials, Cameras, and Lights.
  6. Leave Geometry as the default.
  7. Click OK.



  8. A dialog box will pop up that says Select Revit Family Types to Import. Click OK.



  9. Once the process is complete, you will see the model in the viewport. In the Perspective view, click Perspective>Cameras>More.



  10. Here you will see the number of cameras that you have in Revit. From here, select Looking at Entrance – Shaded, then click OK.





  11. Save the scene. To do this, click File then Save.



  12. Give it a file name and click Save.
