RUSS NICLOY: Now, in Civil 3D, we're
00:15
going to come back in here to calculate the raw materials
00:19
and the grading quantities for the roadway
00:21
that is coming up to our Bridgeway here.
00:23
The first thing we need to do for that
00:25
is to create a surface on the corridor
00:30
for the subgrade information.
00:31
So I'll select on the corridor.
00:33
Go to Corridor Surfaces.
00:35
Under the Surfaces tab, I'll select and add a Surface.
00:39
This is the road subgrade.
00:44
I'm going to go to the Data type Links
00:46
and choose the code of Datum, and click the Plus sign,
00:49
and add that in.
00:51
I'm also going to go to the Boundaries tab, right-click,
00:54
and corridor extense is out of boundary.
00:57
This should create a boundary on the outside edge
00:59
and rebuild the corridor so that we
01:02
can get just the surface in that area there.
01:06
You can see it's done that.
01:09
I am going to hit Escape and let go of the corridor.
01:11
I'm going to hit Save, so we can save the file.
01:14
And then, I'm going to create the sample lines
01:17
along this roadway so that we can measure
01:19
the volumes for this side that's on the West side
01:22
of the project.
01:23
I'll go to the Home tab of the ribbon, Profile and Section
01:26
Views panel, Sample Lines.
01:28
I'm going to hit Enter, so I can select it from a list.
01:31
And if you remember, a 19 was the alignment
01:33
that we were dealing with there.
01:36
And in here, I don't want the existing transportation
01:39
or proposed ground.
01:40
Those are Infraworks ideas of what
01:42
was going on with the road.
01:43
I do want the existing ground 19,
01:46
which is the corridor and 19 road subgrade,
01:49
which is the surface we made from the corridor.
01:52
So I'll go with that.
01:53
I am going to change the subgrade surface
01:55
from Existing Ground to the Finished Ground style.
01:60
I'll click OK.
02:02
And now, I'm going to pick in the sample line tools,
02:08
this button here to create a bi-range of stations grouping.
02:12
I'm going to start from the very beginning,
02:14
but I'm going to end this batch, this volume calc batch,
02:21
to the end of the roadway there, at the end of the corridor,
02:24
before we get to the bridge.
02:27
I'm also going to widen the width of the left swath
02:31
and the right swath.
02:35
We will make these every 50 feet,
02:37
and I am going to start at the range start and the range end
02:42
because they're not at nice round numbers
02:44
or probably aren't at nice round numbers
02:46
and we want volume calcs right up to the edge.
02:49
So I'll click OK, and drops those in.
02:51
By back up, I still am in the sample line creation tools
02:57
until I right-click and let it know that I'm done.
02:59
At that point, it will add the labels
03:01
to all of the sample lines, so I know that that calculation
03:05
has been done.
