Now we're gonna look at how you can create 2D Generic Annotation Family specifically for the Design Review Process.
00:08
Now, the one downside between using text and dimensions is that I can't really schedule it.
00:13
I don't know how many notes or how many dimensions or how many questions there may be in the model.
00:19
I'll have to go through all the review views and check that.
00:22
Now, another way I could do this is that I could create a Generic Annotation Family, and I could insert that as a comment into the view.
00:32
So, in order to create the Family, I would go up to "File", "New", "Family".
00:38
And then I would choose an Annotation Template. And the template I want specifically is the Generic Annotation.
00:45
So, I'm gonna click "Open". And now I can go ahead and create that Generic Annotation.
00:51
Now I have a family that I'd already created, so I'm going to switch over to that one.
00:57
And you can see here again, this is a Generic Annotation Family.
01:00
I have a box that defines the comment. And then I have some text here that says the Reviewer, Assigned To, Date and Comment.
01:08
So, there's four fields inside of the Comment.
01:12
Now, if I click on this element, this is a label. I'm going to click "Edit Label".
01:17
And you can see I have a number of Custom Parameters that I created specifically for this annotation.
01:23
I'm going to click "Assigned To", and I'm going to edit the parameter. And you can see that it is of the Text Type Parameter.
01:32
It's grouped under Other, and it's set to the Instance.
01:35
So, each instance of this comment family that gets inserted can have a different Assigned To,
01:41
can have a different Date, can have a different Reviewer.
01:44
I'm gonna click "OK".
01:45
I added most of these parameters over into the label, and I made sure to check the break checkbox after each so it ends up on its own line.
01:54
And then I'm gonna click "OK".
01:55
So when I insert this family into a view, I can go through and I can update the parameters,
02:01
and add the Reviewer, the Assigned To, all that particular information.
02:05
Now, another thing I did is I added this urgent text.
02:09
So I'm gonna go over to my Family Types and you can see that there's two types in the family.
02:14
One is called Normal, one is called Urgent.
02:17
And you can also see that there's a visibility parameter, a Yes, No parameter here called Is Urgent.
02:23
So, this text has a visibility parameter applied to it,
02:28
so the urgent text is visible if the Is Urgent check box is checked.
02:36
And these are set at the Type Level, so I can choose that this is a normal comment or it's an urgent comment.
02:43
And you have a lot of flexibility inside of your Generic Annotation.
02:47
You could color code the comments. You could add different categories.
02:52
You could add different texts to appear based on specific criteria.
02:57
So you can design these comment blocks however you want.
03:01
I'm gonna go ahead and load this into my project, and then I'm going to switch to my Floor Plan View and place one of them.
03:08
So, I'll scroll in the Project browser to the Families Category.
03:13
And under Annotation Symbols, my tag is called Review Tag.
03:19
And I'm gonna zoom out a little bit and let me place a normal tag.
03:23
I'm just gonna drag it right here,
03:25
and I can click on it now and I'll say the Assigned To and the Comment is Check Room Equip.
03:38
And the Date will be, and then the Reviewer, I'll use my initials here.
03:47
That's the information that gets at it.
03:49
And again, I'm using a red color, so the label and the text and the lines inside of that Generic Annotation Family are red.
03:56
So, it jumps out and it's very visible on the view.
03:59
I can also click on the element, and I can choose to add a leader.
04:04
So, I'm going to add a leader so I can point specifically to which room I want.
04:09
And if I select that family, I can edit the type and then I can choose a specific leader Arrowhead.
04:16
So, in this case, let's use Dot Filled, I click “OK. And then here's my note.
04:22
So, it's very clear what I'm talking about.
04:24
So, I'm gonna go ahead and add an Urgent tag now and let's add that,
04:31
I'm going to again filled this out, so Assigned To.
04:35
So, I'll add a couple leaders here,
04:38
right there and now I just need to edit the type and set the Leader Arrowhead.
04:46
Here we'll do Filled 30 degrees, so I can have a different Leader Arrowhead for the different comment type.
04:52
So, now this one shows up as being Urgent.
04:55
Now what's nice about using the Generic Annotation is that I can create what's called a View Note Schedule and I can schedule these.
05:04
I can see when a Review Tag has been added to a view.
05:08
I'm gonna go ahead up to the View ribbon and I'm going to click on Schedules.
05:14
And then create a Note Block Schedule.
05:17
I'm going to choose a Note Block Schedule based on my Review Tag. I'm going to click "OK".
05:24
And I want to add all of these parameters. I leave the Is Urgent one because that will get picked up by the type.
05:34
But I'll add the Assigned To, Comment. We'll actually remove the count and all of that here.
05:41
So I click "OK", and now I can see the comment. I will change the name to Review Notes.
05:49
And I can see the type which is important, cause I would want to highlight or I could group by urgent notes,
05:54
so those need to be taken care of first.
05:56
Or I could group by the other different types of notes that I have, so I can categorize it and then I can see this itemized list.
06:04
Now, what I could also do is I'm gonna go to my Start View and I'm gonna add this Schedule to my Start View.
06:13
Add that right here. That way, whenever anybody opens the model, they will see those review note.
06:19
I can always go back to the Schedule, and I can click on one of the notes and then select highlighting model,
06:26
and that will pull me right to where that family has been placed.
06:32
Alright, now it's your turn. Go and create a 2D Generic Annotation Family for review comments.
06:38
Include Reviewer, Assigned To, Date and Comment fields as well as any other fields you think would be useful.
06:46
Then add different types to the family to differentiate the comment status.
06:51
Place the family in a Review Floor Plan in the model and fill out the family fields.
06:56
Lastly, create a Note Block Schedule for the Review Family and add it to your Start View.
