Coordination and work sharing for architects

When architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, and civil engineers all collaborate on a building project, they must share information about the design, so that all teams are working with the same assumptions. Learn better ways to collaborate to be more efficient with BIM.

Building project model co-authoring using Revit and the Autodesk Construction Cloud

Teams that work simultaneously inside the same model get the job done faster, smarter, and with less errors. Co-authoring building models in the cloud ensures that all your design teams have access to the latest design model. In this module, you learn how to publish models to the cloud, share and consume packages, and synchronize changes from anywhere.

This module takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. By the end of the module, you should be able to:

  • Create and initiate a Revit project model to the cloud
  • Check standards compliance in Revit
  • Synchronize changes in a Revit model to the cloud
  • Publish WIP models
  • Link models from team's WIP Revit model

Efficiently share your model with the entire project team using BIM Collaborate

BIM Collaborate is an efficient way to share your design with the entire team. In this module, you learn how to upload your model to BIM 360 to monitor changes to elements in a multi-discipline project in the cloud and identify potential issues.

BIM Collaborate is an efficient way to share your design with the entire team. In this module, you learn how to upload your model to BIM 360 to monitor changes to elements in a multi-discipline project in the cloud and identify potential issues.

This module takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. By the end of the module, you should be able to:

  • Upload Revit models to the cloud using BIM 360 Design
  • Upload non-Revit project documents to the cloud
  • Create and consume packages
  • Use cloud worksharing
  • View design changes
  • Update issues

Before you start

  • You must already have access to BIM 360 and a project created in BIM 360.

If your BIM Manager has not done this for you or if you do not have a BIM Manager, make sure you learn how to set up a project by going to the Setup BIM 360 for Better Project Coordination Using the Cloud module found under the BIM Management course.

Import Civil 3D Surfaces and Site Information into Revit

Importing a Civil 3D TOPO surface and site information into Revit allows you to see how the building will look in context with its surroundings. Learn how to take advantage of work already done by the surveyor and/or civil engineer, saving you time in recreating their work.

This content takes approximately 35 minutes to complete. By the end, you should be able to:

  • Set up BIM360
  • Prepare the Civil 3D Model
  • Set the GeoLocation

Allowing Multiple Users Access to a Revit Model Using Worksharing

There is a trick to allowing everyone to work in one model without overwriting what someone else has done. Share one central Revit model with a wide team using worksharing.

Sharing Views with a Wider Team in Revit

The focus of this module is sharing model information with people who do not have Revit. You will learn to create 3D shared views where the user can investigate the model in the Autodesk Viewer.
