ERICK WING: Now that we know how to configure our cover
00:12
settings, let's go ahead and add a cover setting of our own.
00:16
The objective of this video is to find
00:17
where we can add a custom cover setting and add one.
00:23
I'm going to jump into my structural model
00:25
that I was working on in the last video.
00:28
Now, let's go to the Structure tab.
00:32
Let's click our reinforcement pull down menu.
00:36
Let's go to Rebar Cover Settings.
00:42
We have a bunch in here, but let's make
00:43
a custom one that can be identified
00:45
when we select an item.
00:48
I want to click Add.
00:50
Let's call it column cover.
00:53
For the setting, let's make it 3 inches.
00:58
Hit enter.
00:60
So I need to do--
01:02
Click OK.
01:04
Now in the Project Browser, under structural plans,
01:07
let's make sure that we are down at lower level.
01:12
Let's find our section number 13.
01:14
So I'm going to double-click on section 13.
01:18
Let's rename that section.
01:19
Although it corresponds with the footing that we're on,
01:22
I want to make sure that it's 13.
01:24
So for the view name, where it says section 13,
01:28
let's just call it section footing 13.
01:32
Perfect, click Apply.
01:33
It just seems a little more deliberate.
01:36
OK, now, go ahead and select this column right here.
01:41
And in your properties, let's go up to Rebar Cover, Other Faces.
01:47
Click the dropdown here.
01:49
Notice that we can come down now and select column cover.
01:52
So, select that.
01:54
Now click Apply.
01:57
Now with our columns still selected on our reinforcement
02:01
panel, click the Rebar button.
02:06
Notice now that we have pretty deep column
02:09
cover settings at 3 inches.
02:12
So, perfect.
02:15
Hit escape a couple of times.
02:16
One thing to point out, though, is so
02:19
when we selected our column, and we changed that parameter,
02:22
notice that this is an instance parameter, which
02:25
means that it's only changing this
02:26
one concrete rectangular column that we have selected.
02:30
All of the other
02:33
aren't going to have that Rebar cover.
02:37
Hit escape a couple of times.
02:41
So, now we can go ahead and start
02:43
placing Rebar in another video.
