Creating a Rebar Schedule

Nothing fancy here, unless, of course,

you're used to the drafting days where we drew an actual grid

and used not so smart text to make our schedules.

Well, in that case, this is quite spectacular.

The objective of this video is to create a schedule view

and fill it on our sheet.

Of course, if you've been following along,

open your Medical Center parking garage,

I'm going to grab Parking Garage underscore 04.

To make a schedule, we'll first go to the View tab.

On the View tab, go to the Create panel.

On the Create panel, we'll find Schedules,

then we'll go to Schedule Quantities.

The first thing we do is find a category.

So I want to scroll down to I find Structural Rebar.

Click OK.

First thing I'm going do is I want to grab Rebar Number.

Notice I just typed "re" and it jumped down to Rebar Number,

because I'm cool like that.

I select Rebar Number, I click the Add Parameters button.

I'm going to find Type, I'm going to add that.

I'm going to grab a bar diameter,

I'm going to grab bar length by holding down my Control key.

I'm going to click my Add button here.

I'm going to find the Partition, I'm going to add that.

Now, I could move partition up or down.

So for example, if I wanted partition

between type and bar diameter, I could just move it up.

Now, let's go to Sorting and Grouping.

I want to actually sort it by partition.

And I want to add a footer.

For my footer, I'll grab title count and total.

It's funny though, because if I don't click on Grand Totals,

it doesn't show up.

One more thing I do want to do, though,

is I want to go to Formatting, I want to select Bar Length.

In the field formatting area, notice that it

says no calculation here.

I want to change that.

Shut the dropdown and let's calculate the totals.

Click OK.

Here's our rebars.

So that's going to add up the total length of rebar

we have for a level three slab and it's

going to add it up for our west edge level too.

We have our number, we have our type.

Now, let's see if this long schedule will fit on a sheet.

We can close out of our schedule.

In the private browser, we're going

to right click on Sheets All, we're going to go to New Sheet.

Let's click OK.

Click Rebar Schedule, click and drag it over.

Pick a spot like right about here, just like that.

Notice she's too long but also notice if we Zoom in here,

there's a little gap button, it's

called split schedule table.

Drag it down a little bit.

We'd have to split it again.

Now, notice once we split it into three,

we can grab this grip here.

We can sort of drag that up.

Also, what we can do is if we have

items that are kind of overlapping like bar diameter,

we can drag this over and it kind of widens it.

So we can build in quite a bit of room into these schedules.

Now, there's a chance you don't want this schedule

on a sheet at all, so you wouldn't have

to go through this exercise.
