ERIC WING: Yes, Revit does have predefined Rebar shapes.
00:10
It's just a matter of finding them and making sure they're
00:12
loaded into our project.
00:13
I'm not going to actually add anything
00:15
to our model in this video.
00:17
I just want to show you how Revit looks at Rebar
00:19
and how it's loaded into our project.
00:22
To start, let's go to the Structure tab.
00:25
We see the reinforcement drop down.
00:28
We see we have our reinforcement cover settings.
00:30
We looked at our settings and our reinforcement numbers.
00:34
Now that doesn't tell us what the Rebar actually is, right?
00:37
So we're not going to see our shapes until we actually
00:40
try to apply them to an object.
00:42
So if I select this column here, now we'll
00:45
see our Rebar tab here.
00:46
Let's go ahead and click on Rebar.
00:50
Now we have our Rebar shape browser.
00:54
Remember when we made this little Rebar shape,
00:56
we added one to it.
00:58
Actually, it didn't, because that's a common shape.
00:60
It just duplicated the shape that we could have used.
01:03
But if we look over here, we'll see we have Rebar shape double
01:06
Now if we scroll down here, we have a bunch
01:09
of different Rebar shapes.
01:10
What are those?
01:11
If we click on this little button here,
01:13
it's going to simply just toggle our Rebar shape browser.
01:18
Now our Rebar shapes are loaded into our project.
01:21
So if we scroll down to our families,
01:25
scroll all the way down to Rebar shape, here they are.
01:31
Now if we double click on one of these,
01:33
it's going to open up our type properties,
01:35
but there's not a lot of properties
01:36
that we can look at other than one, allowable Rebar types,
01:41
right?
01:42
So some shapes like type number three here it's pretty small.
01:46
So if we click Edit, we can disallow a certain type
01:50
of Rebar to use a shape.
01:52
So we can uncheck whatever we want here.
01:54
So click Cancel.
01:57
There's not too many other variables we can change.
01:60
Hit Cancel here.
02:02
If you don't have any of these reinforcements in our project,
02:06
what we can do is we can go to the Insert tab,
02:11
we can load family.
02:14
Now if we scroll down, we can find structural Rebar shapes.
02:18
So if we double click on structural Rebar shapes,
02:22
here they are.
02:23
Here's our Rebar shapes.
02:25
We could load those into our project as we see fit.
02:27
Notice we have that 17A here.
02:29
We thought we were being clever by creating a new Rebar shape,
02:32
but it already was in there.
02:35
Hit Cancel here, and skip a couple of times.
02:42
There you go.
02:42
That's how Revit deals with Rebar families and Rebar
02:46
shapes.
