ERIC WING: As we are starting to see,
00:09
there are quite a few settings that
00:11
can be configured to get the results we want.
00:14
The objective of this video is to create default bends
00:17
for the ends of our reinforcing.
00:20
Let's jump into our structural project.
00:23
Let's go to Section Footing 13.
00:26
The first thing I want to do is on the Structure tab,
00:29
on the Reinforcement panel, click the Reinforcement
00:33
pull-down.
00:36
Let's go to Reinforcements Settings.
00:39
Now under General, notice that we can't change it here.
00:42
But when you include hooks in Ribar Shape definition,
00:46
and include end treatments in Ribar
00:48
Shape definition either Welded or Threaded,
00:52
we can't change things here, like I
00:53
said but these come into play when we start placing Rebar.
00:58
Reinforcement rounding.
01:01
So our bar length, it's going to just round it
01:03
to a specific increment or we can uncheck Use Reinforcement
01:07
Rounding, and we click OK.
01:10
It's going to gray it out.
01:12
So let's use reinforcement rounding.
01:14
Let's click OK.
01:17
Now, what we didn't see anywhere was End Treatments or bends.
01:20
What we need to do is find a family for that.
01:23
So in the project browser, let's scroll
01:25
down until we get to Families, all right.
01:28
In the Families, make sure annotation symbols
01:31
are collapsed.
01:32
That always gets in the way.
01:34
That scroll down until we find Structural Rebar.
01:38
Drilling to Structural Rebar, notice that we
01:41
have three categories here--
01:43
Rebar Bar-- here's our Rebar gauges, right.
01:46
We can change that.
01:49
That's Rebar Bar.
01:51
We have our hooks, which we're going to add a couple of hooks.
01:54
And we have our Rebar Shapes.
01:56
These are the shapes that we found in our little Rebar
01:59
browser over here, OK.
02:01
So what we want to do is add a Rebar hook.
02:04
So let's double click on Standard 90 degree.
02:08
Now, let's click Duplicate.
02:12
Let's call it Standard 45 degree,
02:16
and get rid of the number two.
02:18
Hit OK.
02:20
The hook angle will be 45 degrees.
02:24
Tab, click OK.
02:27
There it is.
02:29
Double click on Stirrup/Tie 90 degree.
02:31
Notice that we have a style here,
02:33
Stirrup/Tie or we have Standard.
02:36
The other one is Standard, this one is Stirrup/Tie.
02:39
This makes a difference when we start placing Rebar.
02:43
Let's click Duplicate.
02:46
First Stirrup/Tie, we'll make that 45 degrees.
02:52
Then we'll hit OK.
02:55
The hook angle will be 45 and we'll keep the extension
02:59
multiplier at six.
03:01
We can actually change those with our Rebar in place.
03:04
You'll see.
03:06
Click OK.
03:09
Excellent.
03:10
Now, select your footing.
03:16
Click Rebar.
03:23
Now, what we want to do is click on Sketch Rebar.
03:29
Now, Revit wants us to select the host again.
03:32
I'm not sure why, but go ahead and select your host.
03:37
OK, now, notice that we're free style sketching in Ribar.
03:44
We can change our style right here from Standard
03:46
to Stirrup or Tie.
03:48
Let's keep it on Standard for now.
03:50
Let's click a point here and click a point here.
03:55
You will come down and pick a point right about there.
03:59
Over here, come straight down, I'll
04:01
pick a point there, and escape a couple of times.
04:04
Wherever we stop driving is going to be either considered
04:06
our start or our end.
04:07
So for hook, it's start instead of none.
04:11
Notice that only our standard hooks
04:14
are going to show up because our style of Rebar is Standard.
04:18
So if we go Standard
04:21
that it pushes it outside of our foundation,
04:23
but we have this little toggle hook orientation
04:26
button, which toggle it inward.
04:29
Hook it end, go Standard 180.
04:33
Toggle that, it goes up.
04:35
Change it to Standard 45.
04:38
Goes down.
04:40
So see how we can change our end treatments, right.
04:44
So if we double click on Standard 45 degree,
04:49
change our extension multiplier to six, hit OK.
04:55
It's going to shorten that.
04:56
Both of these hooks though, let's go ahead
04:58
and change it to 180.
05:01
This one will be 180.
05:06
Now, we can click Finish.
05:07
And it's actually added a Ribar shape
05:10
and it's giving us our Rebar hook.
05:11
Now, if you select this Rebar, notice that you cannot change
05:15
the style.
05:17
If you add a sketch, now, if we change
05:20
our style to Stirrup or Tie, hook at start, here's
05:27
our Stirrup/Tie.
05:28
Hooks.
05:30
Hit Escape a couple of times.
05:32
Just hit the red x.
05:33
We can cancel out of that.
05:34
We can keep the one in there that we want.
05:36
Quitting cannot be undone.
05:38
Are you sure you want to discard edits?
05:39
Yeah, it's fine.
05:41
Now, the task of placing our Rebar
05:44
is going to be an easy one.
