Learn how to use a non-transcode folder

00:09

Any time you upload an asset,

00:10

we'll transcode the file so that it can be played or viewed on the platform.

00:15

We'll also transcode several proxy files based

00:17

on your settings for playback or download.

00:20

However, if you like,

00:22

you can bypass all of these transcodes

00:24

by turning any folder into a non transcode folder.

00:28

With a non transcode folder, any assets uploaded will simply be stored on the platform

00:33

and made available for downloading for anyone with the appropriate permissions.

00:38

To turn a regular folder into a non transcode folder,

00:41

first select the folder on the left.

00:44

Next, put the upload options icon on the right,

00:47

then toggle the non transcode folder toggle to on,

00:53

and that's it.

00:54

Going forward,

00:54

any future uploads to this folder will be uploaded

00:57

as is and won't be available for playback.

01:02

Note that any assets uploaded prior to targeting

01:05

this on will still be available for playback.

01:08

Also note that toggling this to off won't impact any

01:12

assets that were uploaded while it was toggled on.

01:17

In other words,

01:18

the status of the toggle will permanently impact whether

01:21

an asset is transcoded for playback or not.

01:24

If you want to change whether an asset is playable or not,

01:27

you'll need to re-upload it with the toggle to the correct position.
