Hello, and welcome to this online PowerInspect class.
00:12
Whether you're new to PowerInspect's metrology, this course will introduce you to the key concepts of PowerInspect by focusing on a basic inspection workflow.
00:23
Whether you are working on the training example in this class or complex components, the inspection process will be the same, basic workflow every time.
00:31
And this will ensure that your part is measured as accurately and as efficiently as possible.
00:38
So, before we jump into any specifics, let's take some time to outline and discuss the workflow that we'll be following throughout the rest of this class.
00:47
The first step in the workflow is device setup.
00:50
Here you will be able to connect to your device, select the correct protocol to allow to communicate with PowerInspect, and calibrate it, to ensure that any measurements that are created will be valid and accurate.
01:02
Once your device has been setup, we can start using the PowerInspect software by opening a new document.
01:09
Whether you're working from a CAD model or a drawing, PowerInspect has a helpful wizard that would take you through the steps of starting a new project.
01:17
With your project setup, the component needs to be aligned relative to your datum.
01:23
Correctly aligning a component is essential to getting accurate measurement results and PowerInspect has a number of different alignment strategies.
01:33
Once your part has been aligned, you can start measuring different features in surface form.
01:38
With the part measured, PowerInspect enables you to view and customize an inspection report to communicate either internally or externally.
01:47
At this stage, you are also able to go back and realign and re-measure if you're unhappy with any aspects of your results.
01:55
You should pick up on this workflow fairly quickly because we'll be utilizing it throughout this class to guide us through inspecting the components.
02:04
So, with all that in mind, let's start utilizing our workflow by starting on our first PowerInspect project in lesson 1.
