This is a practice exercise video solution.

00:06

For this practice, will get started with the supply data set locating plate.

00:11

We want to navigate to manufacture and change the units to inch.

00:17

Next we want to create a new setup. We're going to use all the default settings and say okay.

00:24

We're going to begin by creating a 2D facing tool path.

00:28

For our tools, will navigate to our cam DFM library and select tool number eight are two inch face mill. Using the default settings will say okay.

00:38

Next we want to begin drilling our holes.

00:42

We need to select a tool.

00:43

So again, we'll go to our candy FM library and select tool number one our eight inch spot and set it for aluminum drilling.

00:52

For our holes, we're going to select based on a diameter range and in the heights tab.

00:57

We want to make sure that we're going to the whole top and allowing the drill tip to go through.

01:05

Next we want to create a drilling operation that allows us to drill those holes out a bit larger,

01:10

so we're going to right click and we're going to duplicate our spot drill operation.

01:15

Will edit a duplicate and first modify our tool.

01:19

We don't have a tool that is a quarter inch inside of our library. So we're going to go to our fusion

01:26

Go to our filters and we're going to filter specifically by drill,

01:32

if we want to we can also filter a bit farther using a number value for the diameter range.

01:38

But I'm just going to scroll down until I find the quarter inch tool.

01:42

Set it for aluminum drilling and say okay.

01:46

For our geometry, we're going to be using the same geometry However we want to reverse the order.

01:52

The bottom height is going to be from the whole bottom and we are going to allow the drill tip to go through.

01:58

We do need to make sure that we adjust or modify the tool as it's set to tool no. 2 by default.

02:05

We're going to leave this for now, but it is important to identify the tool number anytime you use a tool library tool.

02:12

Now that we have the holes drilled,

02:13

we can begin creating some machining operations to remove the rest of the material,

02:18

for the outside of this part since it's very close to the size of the stock, I'm just going to use a

02:25

We're going to select tool number six are half inch flat end mill.

02:30

And we're going to use it for aluminum finishing and select.

02:34

For our geometry, will grab the bottom edge of the park and for our passes we're going to make sure that we're machining all the way to the bottom,

02:42

but we want to make sure that we are using a finished pass in order to do this,

02:47

we can either select multiple finishing passes or we can use a roughing pass.

02:53

Going to turn on a roughing pass with the value of

02:59

Now we have a roughing pass as well as a final finishing pass.

03:04

Lastly, I want to create another 2D Contour using the same tool.

03:08

But this time we're going to machine this smaller lip, because there's only a small amount of material, I'm going to do it in a single pass.

03:16

Now everything has been machined and this is a great place for us to save our data set.
