In this lesson, we're going to talk about view and selections.
00:07
After completing this lesson, you'll be able to: Create a named view and create an associated named view.
00:14
In Fusion 360, we want to work with our fsae rim front setup.
00:19
At this point, we've had to rotate this design around quite a bit.
00:23
And you'll notice that when we go back to our home view, everything is sort of upside down.
00:28
So we're constantly having to rotate things around and get back to a view that makes sense.
00:34
I want to talk about ways in which we can create views that help us simplify this process.
00:40
So we're going to start by first resetting our home view.
00:44
Now this is a global setting and it's going to apply to the design in general.
00:48
Which means that if we are continuing to work with this design and working with it in the Design workspace,
00:54
we might want to consider doing something else besides recreating that home view.
00:59
But for this purpose, I'm going to go into my Drop-down menu under the viewcube and I'm going to set my current view as home with fit to view.
01:07
This means that even though front and side and left and all of these different views are upside down,
01:12
when I hit home, it's going to go back to this orientation.
01:16
Another thing that we can do is we can create what's called a Named View.
01:20
So if I have a specific orientation, such as zoomed in to this area on the design that I want to capture, I can go up to my Named View folder.
01:29
I can right click and create a new Named View.
01:32
I can then rename the view by selecting it and clicking on it second time,
01:37
and I can call this one Zoom Spoke, that way I remember exactly what I'm doing.
01:43
I can rotate this around and any time I double click on this Named View, it'll allow me to go back to that orientation.
01:51
We can also update this at any point in time.
01:53
If we want to be zoomed out farther, we can select Update Named View.
01:58
Another way that we can do this is by associating these views with specific operations.
02:03
For example, when we're working on the 2D contour, if we want the view to be oriented a certain way and zoomed in,
02:11
we can right click on the operation and we can create an Associate Named View.
02:16
So we're going to select New Named View.
02:18
It's automatically going to create it based on the name of our operation.
02:22
So if we renamed this at some point, then the new named view would be that whatever that new name is.
02:29
So if we rotate this around again, double click on it, it's going to go back to that view.
02:34
We also have the option to break that association, so we can remove the association if we wish.
02:39
We still have the view but it's no longer associated directly with that operation.
02:45
We right click, notice that we don't have that option to re associate it.
02:50
It's just simply there to remove the association.
02:53
So these are ways in which we can quickly make the selection process a bit easier,
02:58
either by creating these Named Views, resetting our home view or by making these associated views based on the operations.
03:06
Especially when you have a big or complex part that's often hard to see our selections, it can be great to make these Named Views,
03:13
to make it quick and easy for us to get back to those positions any time we need to make those selections or adjustments.
03:20
Let's minimize the Named Views folder.
03:22
And I'm going to minimize my pattern.
03:24
Going to go back to my home view and then I'm going to save this before moving on.
