The Statistics and Information tabs in the Simulate dialog
00:13
provide useful information about toolpaths, which updates in real time.
00:18
For this video, open the file Turning Simulation Statistics.f3d.
00:24
Here, toolpaths have been provided that fully machine the part.
00:29
In the Browser, select Setup1.
00:33
Then, on the Toolbar, Manufacture workspace, Turning tab, Actions panel, click Simulate.
00:44
The Simulate dialog displays.
00:48
Beside the Display tab, there is the Info tab and there is the Statistics tab.
00:55
Click the Statistics tab.
00:58
This tab contains information about the entire toolpath being simulated.
01:03
You can see the machining time, and, in Machining Distance,
01:07
you can see how many feet your tool has moved.
01:11
You can also see the total number of operations
01:14
and the total number of tool changes.
01:18
Be aware, however, that the machining time is a rough estimate,
01:22
which can be different from the actual machining time after post processing.
01:28
Open the Info tab, which provides information about the current tool position and machine.
01:34
Here, you can see the X, Y, and Z control points for the tool,
01:40
as well as what the spindle speed is, the feedrate,
01:43
and the operation that the tool is performing.
01:48
On the Simulation Player, use the slider to slow down the animation, and click Play.
01:55
In the dialog, on the Info tab, you can watch in real time
01:59
as the X, Y, and Z positions of the tool change.
02:06
Under Operation, the operation that the simulation is animating is displayed.
02:12
On the Simulation Player, jump forward to the parting operation and play the simulation slowly.
02:19
In the Simulate dialog, next to Feedrate and Movement,
02:24
notice that the movement and speeds of the tool are indicated, either as Rapid or Cutting.
02:32
Ideally, the tool would move rapidly to the beginning of the toolpath,
02:36
slow to a cutting feedrate as it parts the tool, and then retract at a rapid feedrate.
02:43
However, in its current state, as the tool retracts, it is set to a cutting feedrate.
02:50
Close the Simulate dialog.
02:54
To adjust the movement on the parting operation, in the Browser, under Setup1,
03:00
right-click Part1 and, from the shortcut menu, click Edit.
03:07
A dialog for Part1 displays.
03:11
Open the Passes tab, and under Passes, enable the checkbox next to Allow Rapid Retract.
03:19
Click OK.
03:22
In the Browser, click Setup1, and, from the Toolbar, click Simulate.
03:29
On the Simulation Player, click Play.
03:33
In the Simulate dialog, open the Info tab.
03:37
As the simulation animates the toolpath, on the Info tab, under Position,
03:44
you can see how the Feedrate has changed to reflect the adjustment.
